Udupi, Jul 5: The district administration has busted a forgery case wherein 13 persons who applied for the jobs of village accountants in the district were found to have submitted fake PUC certificates.

Addressing a press meet here on Friday July 5, deputy commissioner Dr M T Reju said that out of the 24 persons who applied for the posts, 13 had forged their PUC certificates to falsely claim their qualification for the job. Out of these, 8 had joined training, and the rest five had been selected but not joined.

A person needs to pass PUC or 10 2 or equivalent exam to qualify for the post, but it was found that the persons who had forged their certificates had actually failed.

After the persons who were selected had joined probationary training at the taluk office, it was discovered that they did not know Kannada enough and lacked basic knowledge required for the post. When suspicion arose, their PUC marks cards were sent to the PU Board for verification, and it was ascertained that they had in fact forged the certificates.

Venkatesha M from Devanahalli, Bangalore, appointed at Kundapur, Basavaraj S P from Belur, Hassan, appointed at Aloor, Raghavendra P from Pandavapur, Mandya, appointed at Hermunde, Karkala, Kumar K from Honnavali, Davangere, appointed at Kantavar, Karkala, Laxminarayana K M from Chikkaballapur, appointed at Jepthi in Kundapur, Jayalaxmi S from Uchila-Someshawar in Mangalore, appointed at Udyavar, Lohitashwa N K from Channarayapatna, Hassan, appointed at Andaru, Karkala and Nagaraj G from Chikkaballapur, appointed at Molahalli in Kundapur, are the persons who reportedly forged their certificates.

The five who had been selected but were yet to join training are Harish K V from Shikaripura, Shimoga, Pavitra B C from Honnavali, Davangere, Asha V S from Honnavali, Davangere, Dinesh Kumar C from Soraba, Shimoga, Revanna Gowda G T from Ashoknagar, Shimoga, and Vasanth Kumar from Turuvekere, Tumkur.

While action has been initiated against the eight who joined training, the other five will be dealt with soon, the DC said. The application for the job had to be submitted online. Sources said that similar cases have been reported in other parts of the state as well.

As per a complaint lodged by the tahsildar, cases have been registered against the 8 persons under sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 465, 466 (forgery of record of court or of public register, etc), 468 (Forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document) of the IPC. They have been dismissed from duty.

In start of their career they are involved in fake certificate racket then imagine what you will expect from the said employees. They will turn out to be the most corrupted human beings on earth. Good that the corrupted root is pulled out at initial stages.

The Dist. Admn. has to check / verify the records of all their staff's, as they are qualified to accept bribes and harass poor / illiterate villagers. In most of the Panchyats the village accountants are not reporting to work daily and they doesn't know to speak proper kannada. Their assistant's are more experienced than the village accountants. The Dist. Collector should give a surprise check to these idiots then only they will improve.

Every government employee's credentials, including those who retired and collecting pension, should be verified. It will be bigger scam than the Telgi revenue stamp paper scam.

The fake Marks card affects the career of honest and sincere candidates. It is time that the people appointed for any post their school & college certificates are cross verified with Board & University. The fake racket is deep rooted and it is time the rotten root itself is completely wiped out.

If every district scrutinize the documents of public servants,I think more personnel will be caught. Now -adays in Gulf countries, counter checking of certificates made mandatory for certain jobs.Certainly, these would be(now would not)VAs indulge in corruptions as they did not hesitate to corrupt their educational certificates.Well done DC and Tahasildar Sahebs, let it a warning bell for the cheaters in GOVT services..
