Mangalore, Jul 13: 'In the Dark, In the Light' (1985-2013), an exhibition of artworks by Nemiraj Shetty was inaugurated at Orchid Art Gallery here on Saturday July 13.

Ashok Vajpeyi, Hindi poet, critic and cultural activist was the chief guest on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Vajpeyi said, "Art is a beautiful creation and it should not be given just a passing look. Why do we need to be in a hurry in life? Art opens a mystery to the other sides of life.

"In Nemiraj Shetty's art, we can find pictures that portray something beyond," he added.

William Pais, Orchid Art Gallery director, and Nemiraj Shetty accompanied by his wife were present.

Nemiraj said that after three decades of being in the printmaking industry, this was his first solo exhibition. He rendered his gratitude to all those who supported him. He will now continue to pursue his passion and look forward to more exhibitions in the future, he said.

The exhibition of graphic art includes work like 'Animal Farm', 'The Dining Table', 'Night' and others.

The exhibition will be open till July 23.
