Bangalore: Will he, won't he? BJP caught in Yeddyurappa flip-flop on his return

By V S Karnic

Bangalore, Jul 13 (IANS): The Bharatiya Janata Party does not seem to have learnt any lessons from its messy handling of the Karnataka unit's affairs in the last five years, even after losing power in the only southern state it managed to come to power in.

The party is again tying itself in knots over B.S. Yeddyurappa, its first chief minister in Karnataka, whom it removed from the post over mining bribery charges in July 2011. He is also fighting scores of corruption cases in courts in the state.

The party appears willing to take back Yeddyurappa, who left BJP in last December to head the Karnataka Janata Party (KJP).

However, the party is clearly scared at the same time as it is not sure of the impact such a move will have on its claim to have zero-tolerance of corruption and on its prospects in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, which it is confident of winning to return to power in Delhi.

This dilemma has left the party in the state virtually at the mercy of Yeddyurappa, who too continues to flip-flop on his plans.

Sometimes he claims the BJP's central leaders are in touch with him over his return to the party. At others he says no one from central leadership has talked to him about his return.

This week itself Yeddyurappa changed his tune twice. On Wednesday, he said he is willing to talk to anybody in the BJP over his return to the party. On Thursday, he said there was no question of returning to the BJP but he was ready for seat adjustments for the Lok Sabha elections.

Almost at the same time, BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar was hinting to reporters in New Delhi that the party was willing to take back Yeddyurappa!

The confusion, both in the BJP and Yeddyurappa, over their future in Karnataka is understandable as both have become weak in the state after he walked out of the party ahead of the May 5 assembly poll.

The KJP won just six seats, including Yeddyurappa's, in the poll, which BJP lost heavily to Congress.

The BJP lost 70 of the 110 seats it had won in the 225-member assembly in 2008.

The drubbing has shattered the BJP's morale and there is little hope of the party repeating in the Lok Sabha polls its excellent performance of 2009 when it won 19 of the 28 seats in the state.

Even the euphoria generated soon after the appointment of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as the BJP's 2014 Lok Sabha poll campaign chief has evaporated in the party's Karnataka unit.

So much so that a section of BJP state leaders, led by former chief minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda and Bangalore North Lok Sabha member D.B. Chandre Gowda was in New Delhi July 8 to lobby with party president Rajnath Singh and other central leaders to take Yeddyurappa back at the earliest.

Rajnath Singh has apparently asked them not make any public statement on the issue and the central leaders will take a decision at appropriate time.

Such assurances are only adding to the confusion in the state unit, where one group is opposed to Yeddyurappa's return.

Going by the way the BJP has managed its Karnataka affairs since 2008, it looks like the party will remain on the same messy track as the focus is more on capturing power in Delhi at the earliest.

    1. BJP is boasting that they are Patriots, Nationalists and so on. They mean to say that others are idiots ?????

    2. People of karnataka has seen their colours fully.

    2. According to them Yeduyurappa and udupi MLA Ragupathi Bhat's family life, the way in which they lived and acted with their wives is an example for patriotism and nationalism !!!

    3. BJP MLA's sitting in the Sacred Assembly and watching blue films is patriotism and nationalism.

    4. One of BJP's MLA (Halappa) betraying his friend and sleeping with his friend's wife is patriotism and nationalism.

    5. Reddy's who looted the stste's and national wealth, used the looted money to buy MLA's and feed national BJP leaders is patriotism and nationalism?

    6. Atleast half a dozen BJP MLS/Ministers including yedurappa and Subramanya Naidu involved in corruption, looting and land grabing charges is the best example of patriotism and nationalism.

    7. It is sarcastic that BJP which was dancing to the music of patriots and nationalist saying BJP has cleaned, and now free from all dirty and corrupt people and now is busy with running up and down to bring back those pigs to role in the dirt!

Are'nt these politicians are shameless nationalists and so called patriots who suck the blood

England, when they left India after Independence said, " We are leaving, but we are leaving behind us a dog (Pakistan), who will bark at you forever. This is the fate of Yeddy. Secondly, BJP has dug their half grave by involving Modi, if they involve Yeddy, they will complete the half done job.
Finally, Yeddy has no place & can't survive in politics without BJP. But he will bark forever even outside BJP.!!!

Definitely not a shame for BSY to re-join BJP but absolute shame for BJP for begging him to come back, as they had washed their hands off him saying he is corrupt!!!!
This confirms, without any doubt, BJP as a corrupt party themselves and can not keep away their corrupt leaders for even a few months.

BJP is in a confused state of mind, whether to take back BSY or Not!
BJP presumes, in Karnataka they may gain from unification, so division of votes may be consolidated.
At the same time BJP fears, from merger, uncertain gains in Karnataka may be negated in many other States in 2014 LS elections, if they LOOSE A TOOL TO ATTACK CONGRESS/UPA ON CORRUPTION ISSUE!
Internal difference in BJP about merger with KJP is another issue.
Those compromising on principles are always confused!

BSY in delima to decide whether to merge with BJP or not because UPA govt has trapped him court cases of corruption.
current UPA govt playing dangers games our countires democracy or call it as controlling the state level parties. BSY, Mulayam, Maya, YSR Reddys Son, DMK all these people are involved in some or other cases with CBI, they cant breath untill these cases are finalized and no centre govt will finalise so easily because they can play these people with these cases. either you play with my tune otherwise you will face CBI case...
Year 2014 LS elections both UPA and NDA are in equall race, no-body can predict who is going to form the govt.
UPA is struggling with corruption and NDA is struggling with the reoutation of PM candiate designatge PM and pulling by his own guru.
If BSY merge with BJP and then BJP can't from govt, then imagine what will happen to BSY is that his CBI case will be re-activated.
if BJP forms govt, BSY and his collegues will not get majority minestership at centre because other BJP will grab the seats.
the only person very much interested BSY merge with BJP is Mr. Sadanand Gowda, he knows that if BJP comes to power he will get prime post because he has sacrifried CM seat on BJP high-command.
the best way BSY can do here is, keep the KJP as it is and go for alliance with BJP on seat sharing basis and then after election can pay trump card with number MPs and can tilt anyside whoever forms the govt and come out from all pending cases !!!
so, wait and watch BSYs next move

    J N Lobo, Mumbai,

"Gabbu, you are absolutely right. That could be the reason why his wife, yashodaben deserted him."

Can Makna Modi have such low ethical standards to cheat wife ? How can a person havin NO ETHICS can be PM of Hindustan/Bharath ? Yeddy also has some soft corner towards his trusted cabinet collegue Shobhaaji. Makna Modi might have to accomodate Shobha maam in his cabinet at center under Yeddys pressure. Shobha maam plz be aware of Makna Modi.... Maknas are dangerous.

For those who do not knw what " Makna" is, well, Makna is a male elephant without tusks. It is natures creation that some male elephants do not have tusks. Such elephant will be ostracized by herd. These maknas have to lead a solitary life. Tusk is important for male elephants to attract females. Since maknas dont have tusk, females reject them. If Makna tries to force (like Bajarangi Yogi), then the group of elephants wil chase makna. Maknas try to send signal to females through their eyes to several meters but females just dont care for Makna. This makes makna feel injurious n depressed ( just like humans). Maknas are known to be more stronger than Male elephants with tusks. Makna will go into destructive mode, trying to destroy everything that comes on its way. They even break trees in forest while goin on the rampage, they attack people, spoil vegetation. Elephants known to live a community life, but for Makna life is tough.

Makna-Modi is trying to woo Yeddy back bcz Modi wants to be PM ( Who wil be CM of Gujj if Makna MOdi is PM ? ). While Yeddy in power in Karnataka, Modi was the main resource person invited at suthoor mutt where whole KAranataka Cabinet gathered together to implement Gujarath Model of developmet ( Chinthan Manthan). Modi taught these kids about how to develop Karnataka. First lesson was that to create social tension by attacking minority community ( Modi attacked Muslims in his state). For a change, Yeddy chose Christians for attack. Dr.V.S.Acharya was home minister controlled by Yeddi n KalladkaBhat. As days passed, new innovations of governance unleashed by Yeddy - e.g. Operation Kamala, Reddy dominance, Resort politics, Plan to make Shobha first female CM of Karnataka, Northern KArnataka Flood fury, Attacks on farmers etc. .

Yeddis greed to hold on to CM chair finally culminated in him being walking out of BJP. Ananthu made life of Yeddi Miserable. Yeddy gave crores to Nithin Gadkari every month.

Now BJP wants yeddy back bcz BJPs main agenda is to make Makna Modi PM of India. Yeddy can attract some voters !!!

Apart from that Tiger's (BSY)tooth and nail already removed by BJP and BSY himself. If he joins mother party once again there could not be any tangible changes in terms number of MPs for BJP in Karnataka.Importantly,LK Advani has second thought on the issue of BSY's homecoming and that factor played a role in delaying BSY's home coming.

BSY lost mental balance day by days...In one occasion he said either he will align with Left front or Right wing BJP!!!!He has no SAIDANTHINKA principle and every minutes taking non sense that means feeling isolated and frustrated.

This LS election for BJP is a closed chapter in Karnataka and Modi's below cultured statements virtually making BJP a laughing stock and defensive in DELHI .....

    (a) There is still one more year for the election
    (b) The election is referendum to UPA performance over last 10 years
