Mangalore: Clyde Adams D'Souza elected president of YCS central council

Mangalore, Jul 16: Clyde Adams D’Souza was elected the president of YCS, Mangalore diocese during the annual general body meeting, central council election and unit office-bearers' training programme 2013-2014 of YCS held on Sunday July 14 at Shanthi Kiran, Bajjodi.

The programme began with the Holy Eucharist offered by Fr Ronald Veigas, the youth director of Shimoga diocese. Then session on leadership and role of YCS office-bearers was conducted by John D’Silva, Siddakatte and Fr Charles Menezes, YCS/YSM national director, respectively.

Norbert Misquith conducted YCS central council election.

The newly-elected YCS central council members for the year 2013-14 are:

President : Clyde Adams D’souza, Ferrar
Vice-president : Ashish Arun D’souza, Suratkal
Lady vice-president : Lavita Maria Monteiro, Vamanjoor
Secretary : Lindon Joswin Nazareth, Hospet
Joint secretary : Veera Vinitha Sequeira, Siddakatte
Treasurer : Michelle D’souza, Bejai

Yuvatare representative : Jaison D’souza, Permannur; Virgil Miranda, Pakshikere; Jenisha Noronha, Venur; Floyd Ashlan, Madanthyar

Diocesan team of students (DTS): Tressy Cleeta Pinto, Omzoor; Avinash D’Souza, Vorkady;

Regional team of students (Rts): Frivita D’Souza, Gurpur; Floyd Noronha, Kelarai


Fr Ronald Veigas, youth director of Shimoga diocese presided over the valedictory programme held in the evening. Fr Anil D’Souza, Fr Edwin Correa, the director of YCS/YSM, and the central council members were present on the dais.

The programme began with the YCS prayer for peace led by Flavia Rodrigues. Josna Alvares, secretary presented the annual report of YCS movement. The outgoing council members were honoured by Fr Ronald and Fr Anil. Gaywin Lasrado, the outgoing YCS central council president shared his experience in YCS and expressed his gratitude to all.

Fr Edwin Correa announced the new YCS central council and conducted oath taking ceremony. Clyde Adams D’Souza, the new president of YCS central council addressed the gathering on behalf of the newly-elected YCS Central council members.

The outgoing council members handed over a lighted candle to new council members symbolising passing on of responsibility.

The director honoured Norbert Misquith, Arun Fernandes, John D’Silva and all the animators who were present for the programme.

The chief guest of the day Fr Anil D’Souza in his speech asked the young Catholic students never to loose their identity by giving up their uniqueness.

Fr Ronald Veigas, the president of the function congratulated the new council members and explained how YCS has helped young students to be good leaders.

Liuka Lobo, vice-president, welcomed all. Fr Edwin Correa proposed the vote of thanks. Cleeta D’Souza, compered the programme.

YCS members from all the 10 deaneries of Mangalore diocese were present.
