Mangalore, Jul 20: In an alleged attempt to murder, the driver of an MCC official was on Saturday July 20 attacked by a group of four men at Ladyhill.

It is said that Rohit Hoigebail (30) was on his way to pick the MCC official when four persons came in two bikes and attacked him with sharp weapons.

As crowd gathered almost at once, the men fled before they could be caught.

Rohit who was injured on his neck and hands was shifted to hospital in Mannagudda.

Sources said that property issue within Rohit's family had led to the attack.

Speaking to daijiworld, Rohit said that he identified one of the assailants as Shailesh, and that family clash was the reason for the attack. He said he had been expecting an attack for the past four days as he had seen the men following him. "This morning too I could see them following me when I went to pick up the MCC official," he said.

It is said that Shailesh is not connected to Rohit's family. He already has a murder case against him and it is suspected that his help was sought to attack Rohit.

Barke police have registered a case.

Mangalore police need to root out the criminals through encounters before this menace spreads in Mangalore. They also need to have a proper intelligence to stop these kind of attacks as these are mostly done with the knowledge of the criminals who operate fearlessly in Mangalore.

Guys, be matured enough to understand situation.
Political parties, police cannot stop the crimes wherein realtives, friends, collegues etc know each others are involved.
If robbery, mass harassment, eve teasing and other such offences are not under control, wherein general publics are suffering, govt or police not taking any step, then we can blame them.

Political leadership of DK and Udupi are facing new problems. Earlier it was mostly communal disturbances that were giving headache to elected representatives. Offlate, new kind of crimes are coming up in Mangalor n Udupi region like Rape on Women, Stealing of Precious Idols from historical temples. These are very serious crimes which need urgent attention. What our elected representatives like Angara, Sunil Kumar, Srinivasa Shetty doing these days ? After the election, these leaders have gone into hibernation as it is a rainy season now. With much fanfare n show of strength, these leaders won elections. Now their work is done. I see only three MLAs doing some ground work - Ramanatha Rai, Lobo Maama, Khadar Bhai. Rest I dont know what they are doing. Lobo mama is busy visiting places, doing inspections, visiting rain affected areas etc. Poor LoboMama doesnt have government funds to carry out work.

I urge Lobo Mama to see example from earlier MLA n some current MLAs. After getting elected, they stopped working or visiting places !! They didnt connect with common man. Yellow-eyed people want same from Lobamama I guess. Just lead a luxurious, happy, free life after getting elected !! Why Lobo mama has to visit places n keep busy when no other MLAs/Ministers are serious in their work? Next 5 years, no one will ask these MLAs wht they are doing. Yogish Bhatt mama enjoyed five terms as MLA without doing much work. Nalin Kumar is doing nothing. Lobo mama has to request 4 ministers from DK/Udupi - Rai, Khader, Sorake, Jain - for allocation of funds to Mangalore. If funds are not allocated, how can Lobo Mama develop Mangalore ? Who will build a house without having funds ? No one. We lost golden opportunities when DK got Moily n DVS as Chief Ministers of Karnataka, they could have developed Mangalore to world class city by allocating funds. But they didnt do.

Lost opportunity. We have to wait for another CM from DK for development.

Law and order situation ,crime , rape etc is prevalent and worst in other states .
but since literacy and news media is strong in coastal Karnataka, Tv channels are hungry for 'breaking news' issues become internationalized .
Government can't be blamed for incidents which are bound to happen among uncivilized .
we are tarnishing our own image by blowing local issues out of proportion, hate speeches and cheap comments.

This attack happened as a consequence of Family dispute over property. Police should have been informed about this problem. Government of the day cannot be always aware of what is going between four walls of house. If government dose keep a secret window to family matters, then it is a serious breach of constitutionally guaranteed freedom. Folks who criticize government for lawlessness in city must treat each case on merit. Government apparatus cannot intervene in this family feud unilaterally. No one likes government to spy on their private life.

Every day atleast 2-3 loot, murder, rape, robbery are being reported in Mangalore by Daiji. Guess how many incidents goes unnoticed by media.

Looking at number of crimes in the city, I strongly feel SECTION 144 should be imposed in the city with immediate effect.

Dear Jeevan, Kulda will remain kudla and will not change. What is changed here is our mindset. Have faith, honesty and harmony in self first. What you get in blaming the govt? Either BJP or Congi nothing will change all the above menance will continue as population rises and outsiders come in to our city. Think positive and see what you can do to the society for a change, change for good. You support BJP and other Congress it doesn't make any difference to anyone. It is our city and we are custodians of our land. Stop giving biased comment and be positive.

Problem with Indian Constitution. Force to change it and try to bring Gulf Countries law, it will help to reduce the crime rate. Murderer should get death sentence within 6 months. attempt to murder will get 15 to 20 years jail. There should not be bail system for criminals.
For India, military rule is best option.
