Udupi: Child mauled by dogs at Malpe beach, seriously injured

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi

Udupi, Jul 21: In a horrifying incident, a six-year-old girl was mauled by a bunch of 7-8 dogs at Malpe beach here on Saturday July 20.

The girl, identified as Soundarya (6), daughter of Malpe resident Prakash, was critically injured and rushed to hospital.

It is said that the girl's mother had been to Malpe beach to watch the fishing activity, and her daughter had followed her.

All of a sudden, 7 to 8 dogs attacked her at once and injured her grievously.

Babu Salian, Shashidhar Kunder and Suresh Maidan, locals who were nearby rushed to her rescue and managed to save her from the clutches of the dogs just in time.

The locals say that there are hundreds of stray dogs on Malpe beach that keep running around and cause fear among the visitors to the beach. Two days ago, a dog had attacked a police constable too. The district administration should take immediate steps to control the dog menace, the locals urged.

Killing Dogs also is an offense.
But if Dogs kills humans it is not an offense.
WE HAVE THIS KIND OF LAWS.
What if we fight and dogs dies in self defense?
We shouldn't harm creatures, but creatures can harm us!
Population control measures for humans but not for Dogs, so that human population will decrease and Dogs and other animals will increase!

Thank God the child is saved. Dogs are dangerous and no body knows when stray dogs attack. Other than domestic dogs all stray dogs need to be eliminated from Malpe beach where lot of tourists come even during rainy season. All the time there may not be protectors from these animals.

In India everything is taken to extremism some person who does not know the implication of the rules presents a law and it is passed and followed without giving a second thought, Dogs are pack animals when they form a pack then they are extremely dangerous but no one learns until some innocent lives a lost because of general ignorance , cull is the word, which is followed in all the developed nations!!

Dogs become ferocious when the Mutton stalls throw residual flesh & bones to them daily, or fishermen throw fishes to them daily.
That is why the dogs near fishing jetties/beaches or abattoirs become ferocious and attack children when they do not get any thing to eat.

Recall a Incident where in Bangalore a Infant was mauled by dogs... naturally unaccounted garbage disposal leads to breeding of stray dogs ...in Monsoon when food is scarce naturally their wild insitincts take over.... Try to walk through any street packed with dogs alone however calm your it gives a eerie feeling... simply shoot them we have no place for humans so where shall we get space for them.. or else send to Menaka Gandhi's Houseee.. she will feed em....

Stray dogs should be controlled by the concerned dept of that area municipality.Beach and public places should be protected like these kind of stray animals to keep the said places clean fearless and harmless to the public.

These dogs which feed near fish centers, waste disposal places, hotels etc. are ferocious... these dogs eat meat and hence get more ferocious. During their mating season, trouble is more for small kids. Be careful with stray dogs. Menaka Gandhi strictly ordered not to do anything to these dogs ( every life is precious). Dogs dont like to follow this logic at times when they see susceptible humans.

There are too many Dogs, they don't get food. who will feed them?
They become very wild when they don't get food.
When they are in big numbers like humans, Dogs courage multiplies and they attack humans also.
We talk of population control, why not apply the same to Dogs?
We shouldn't harm creatures fine, why allow creatures to harm humans?

    1. Dog menace has become life threatening to humans!
    2. Traveling at night in cities has become very risky to the extent of life threatening.
    3. Dog lovers should not allow Dogs to stray and harm others.
    4. We talk of human population control but do not do anything
to Stray dogs and other harming animals.
    5. In Policy matters we should
not confuse ourselves. When we don't allow human to harm humans or animals why are we allowing animals to harm humans and others creatures?

Some people cant resist bringing even congress-bjp politics into this issue...these people should be called perverts as they see politics everywhere...In this incident the actual problems are stray dogs...They are adult dogs so it goes without doubt that they would be 3-5 years old...whichever govt was there never took steps then...n hasnt taken steps now...

    Indian-Mexico.....
In Western countries 'Pet Dogs Have Tags' and you being in Mexico or wherever do not even have a name! You want to do all Chup Chupke! When scores of people only here do not have tags,or Aadhar Card or whatever you expect dogs to have them! Better said than done man! If all people had them we would not have infiltrators, terrorists entering our country at will and causing havoc. This is one aspect which must be seriously looked into.

If the dist Administration tries to take away these stray dogs the Jean-Clad hi-fi Animal Lovers roaming in the Car, will suddenly appear and protest against taking away Stray dogs.
So, these Rich Animal Lovers should be asked to keep all such stray dogs in their Garage instead of allowing them to roam freely and bite children.

So sad - I wish the government removes this stray dog menace . In western countries the pet dogs and tags have to be registered else the government will take them.

I hope menaka gandhi is also listening
