Moodbidri: Congress TMC member Shivraj Rai ends life

Moodbidri, Jul 22: Shivraj Rai, member of Moodbidri town municipal council, allegedly committed suicide here on Monday July 22. He was 41.

A member of Congress party, Rai was said to have been suffering from terminal illness which reportedly led him to take the extreme step.

Rai was part of the Kotebagilu ward of Moodbidri TMC.

He was earlier in JD(S) and had switched over to Congress recently.

He got married about two years ago and has an infant baby.

A large number of well-wishers, party workers and leaders visited his residence to pay their last respects.

shocking news for me.....but suicide is not the answer for lifes troubles.may departed soul rest in peace,almighty proved his dearones to face the untimely loss of their dear one.

When a person reaches the extremes of suicidal tendencies his mind does not work straight. Its more like a state of trance from which you can never come out of without external help. All of us who think this is a cowardly decision must realize that should a similar situation arise in our lives we could also reach this same state. We cannot always blame the deceased or think of him as a coward. Thought processes stop completely and there is no scope for the person to think about his loved ones, family or friends at this point of time. I definitely do not support the idea of suicide but this is something way beyond contemplation. All we can do is pray for his soul and his family. RIP.

A man with terminal sickness first of all should not have got married. Now the wife and kids are in dire situation. Foolish people end their life and it has become life mockery.

I can't belive he commits suicide. I know him personally and he is a lively person helping people of Kotebagilu ward. He was so active that he doesn't show any kind of illness untill March 2013 when i last met him. May his soul rest in peace and the God give strength to his family to bear this unbearable loss.
