Mangalore, Jul 24: Superhits 93.5 Red FM’s special event ‘Red Chaapu’ aimed at spotting the best locations under various categories concluded on Wednesday July 24.

The Red FM team visited the winning locations and handed over the certificates and the ‘Chaapu’ to the owners of the respective firms or institutions. The event had eight categories - best park, road, place for ‘goli baje’, juice point, place for fish fry, Mangalore ‘neer dosa’, ice cream, and beach.

The listeners were urged to nominate the places under the said category through SMSes. The three top-rated places were thus selected and finally the winners were declared through SMS by the listeners of Red FM. The listeners sent in their votes in each category over a period of three days.

Best Park

Gandhi Park, Mannagudda, has been declared the best park in Mangalore. The other two top nominations in the list were Tagore Park and Kadri Park. Gandhi Park received the highest number of SMSes and was declared the winner in this category.

The certificate and the ‘Chappu’ was handed over by the Red FM team to Hundi Prabha Kamath, president, Gandhi Park Association and the principal of Canara PU College, Mangalore.

Speaking on the occasion, she said that this park was rebuilt in 2000 and a dedicated team has strived hard for its maintainence. “The park association daily carries out various activities in the park, like Yoga, laughing club, and walking club. The main pillar behind the success story of this park is Prabha Kudva who was the one who initiated all the developmental activities here. Red FM has recognized this as the best park and hence given us lot of hope for further developments and increased our responsibilities,” she added.

Changappa, horticultural assistant of MCC, said that all the staff of the gardening team had worked hard for the betterment of this park and the credit goes to them and the association members.
Venkatesh Achar, Jayanthi Achar, and Ramachandra Nayak were also present.

Best Road

The certificate was handed over to the MCC commissioner Ajith Hegde, near Mangalore City Corporation swimming pool.

I appreciate Ref FM team's initiative to identify the best in Mangalore. Next time include best Corporator, best MLA, best institution, best citizen and so on.
While ing the best eatable, due consideration should be given to the place of preparation too.
