Mangalore, Jul 25: Tulunada Rakshana Vedike, Kadala Sene Yuva Trust, Prem Association Suratkal along with former JD(S) member M G Hegde on Thurday July 25 staged a protest near DC office here, demanding grant of citizenship card and to have a single centre for application of ration and other cards.

Addressing the protest, M G Hegde said, “Even after 65 years of independence, citizens of India have no citizenship card to claim themselves as citizen of this nation. Though government has suggested several cards, it has failed to declare any single card as citizenship card. Currently an individual has to use several documents like birth certificate, LPG card, voter card, NPR card, agricultural pass book, passport, caste certificate, income certificate in his daily routine.”

“When there is advanced technology, why cannot the government provide or declare a single card as citizenship card? Dinesh Gundu Rao’s decision of new ration card to those who were issued ration cards before 2010 may lead to ration card mafia and that will not solve the problem,” he added.

Slamming the government officers, Hegde said, “Officers know only to eat and sleep. There are several problems at micro level but government officers do not bother about these problems.”

“Government should solve ration card problem and should make the availability of this card at a single place within a short period of time,” he said.

Founder president of Tulunada Rakshana Vedike said, “To obtain ration card a person has to spend several days in front of the office. By the time the card reaches his hand, he will reach his end. A common man who earns to feed his family has to starve waiting for ration card. Government should solve this problem immediately. If not we will intensify our protest and take a rally from Jyothi circle to DC office.”

The protestors also displayed the effigy of a dead body to stress the point about delay in issuance of ration card.

Yashwanth Bolar, Hemanth Hoige Bazar, Hamid Hasan Madooru, Praveen Vamanjoor, Shrikanth and others were present on the occasion.

    To my friends in Mangalore....

Aadhaar is a 12 digit individual identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India on behalf of the Government of India.

This number will serve as a proof of identity and address, anywhere in India.

Any individual, irrespective of age and gender, who is a resident in India and satisfies the verification process laid down by the UIDAI can enrol for Aadhaar.

Each individual needs to enroll only once which is free of cost.

Each Aadhaar number will be unique to an individual and will remain valid for life. Aadhaar number will help you provide access to services like banking, mobile phone connections and other Govt and Non-Govt services in due course.

Typical vacuous pseudo-intellectual comment! If you believe that, then you should try voting and exercising voting and other citizenship rights in some other country.
