Mangalore, Jul 28: Amidst the roar of the heavy downpour lashing the city after sunset, the pleasant sound of music, dance and songs performed for a noble cause by the youngsters of St Aloysius Pre-university College truly mesmerized the young and old at Loyola Hall, on Saturday, July 27.

‘Exquisite-2013 – Entertainment for a cause’, a fundraiser programme in aid of HIV affected kids of Jeevadhan Centre, Kaikamba organized by students between the age group of 17-18 years, was a laudable effort, and highly entertaining.

These youngsters took the lead in collecting and contributing a sum of Rs 1 lac for HIV-affected kids.

The hall celebrated the festival of extravaganza comprising a mixture of English tunes, Bollywood beats, electrifying music and spectacular dance performances. In addition, the continuous and thunderous applause by the audience when their fellow students rocked the stage added an extra spark to the evening.

These youngsters captivated audience with their magical sway on musical instruments, dance and melody. Warren Sheldon Costa, a young guitarist weaved magic with his fingers on strings. Thereafter, he played guitar adopting different styles – creating music at its best – even with his mouth, while his fellow musicians from Band Ecstasy presented a good combo.

Gavin Rodrigues and his team Silver Steppers presented scintillating dance performances comprising Bollywood and Hollywood beats. In addition, there was action dance, beat boxing, a purely new concept with Mangalore masala for the audience.

During the stage programme, Fr Elvis Lewis, principal, St Aloysius Pre-university College said, “This is the first ever student initiative programme in the history of St Aloysius PU College. These students have  presented their talents for the happiness of lesser privileged kids. It is certainly a noble cause. I feel proud of them,” he stressed.

“Not only good marks but good heart is also important. This fundraiser programme for the benefit of HIV-affected kids is purely a student initiative. These HIV-affected kids have to suffer a deadly disease for no fault of theirs. Those kids have done no crime or blunder. But they are the victims”, he further added.

Sr Jestina, on behalf of Jeevadhan Centre received the amount from the student committee and the principal. In return, she thanked the students for their valuable contribution. Rekha Alva, vice-principal, Grace Noronha, and parents of the students witnessed the splendid occasion.

Vaishnavi Pavithran, the student co-ordinator and Gavin Rodrigues, the financial co-ordinator were present on stage. Vaibhav D'Souza compered the show.

I must say that, this is the quickest show hosted by the teenagers. They had just a weeks time to plan, practice, run around for funds after their classes. Vaishnavi,Gavin,Neil,Andrea,Reona & Vaibhav did the most of it.

I thank each participant of the show for the sincere dedication, which resulted into such a "PROFESSIONAL SHOW".

My appreciation to all the wonderful volunteers who did a amazing job.

I salute the Principal and Mr.Dexter for believing in the abilities and talents of their students and encouraging them to host the show.

A big thank you to each one of you for helping in one way or the other in the success of "EXQUISITE 13". Look forward for "EXQUISITE 14".

Excellent initiative and a well uted program by the St. Aloysius PU College students. We enjoyed every bit of the program, the creativity, the coordination, the choreography, the compering, the initial guitar performance, the songs, the dances, the beat boxing, the action song. The team managed to even maintain the timing of the program. Most importantly, was the very thought of doing their little bit to the cause they decided to support during this program. Great teamwork !! Keep up the good work, and God bless you all. ncomperigand most imporatantly the time management

Kudos to all the young adults of St. Aloysius Pre-University College for their breathtaking and totally entertaining performance and their kind gesture of fund raising for the noble cause of aiding the HIV infected children. A lot of their time and effort has gone into presenting this event. The appreciating applauds of the audience is a witness to their success and will encourage them to continue it in future too. You have proved that S – CCESSS cannot be achieved without U. Keep it up!
The Principal, Fr. Elvis Lewis , SJ deserves special mention here for encouraging the students and the members of staff, parents and the student community for their wholehearted support. . Sincerely wish that the students of other colleges take a cue from them and conduct similar events in support of the needy.
