Mangalore: Clerk arrested for assaulting school headmistress

Mangalore, Jul 28: The headmistress of the high school division of Bokkapatna Government First Grade College was allegedly assaulted by a clerk of the same school here on Saturday July 27.

Shivaprasad Dev, a class I assistant at the school, has been arrested by Barke police for assaulting the headmistress.

It is said that Shivprasad had sought certain information from the headmistress, but she did not oblige him. Angered by this, he allegedly beat her up.

The injured headmistress has been admitted to a private hospital.

Shivaprasad, a bachelor hailing from Mandya, took up government job three years ago. He had earlier worked at Bantwal block education office and and DDPI office in Mangalore. It is alleged that in both places, he had misbehaved with the women staff. A complaint against him regarding the incident in DDPI office has been lodged in Urwa police station, sources said.

He has been produced in court and sent to judicial custody.
