India-born Mamnoon Hussain elected as Pakistan's 12th Prez

Islamabad, Jul 30 (PTI): India-born Mamnoon Hussain, a close aide of Prime Minister Nawqaz Sharif, was today elected as the 12 President of Pakistan and will replace the incumbent Asif Ali Zardari in September.

Hussain emerged as a clear winner in the one-sided contest with with ex-judge Wajihuddin Ahmad of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf party, state media reported.

Pakistan People's Party withdrew its candidate Raza Rabbani and boycotted the election held today in protest to the date of polls being changed.

The polling started at 10.00 AM amidst tight security arrangements.

Born in the historic city of Agra, Hussain, who belongs to the Urdu-speaking ethnic group that migrated from India during partition in 1947, was the candidate of ruling PML-N government.

Over 1,000 members of the national parliament and four provincial assemblies cast their ballots for largely ceremonial head of the state.

The office of the president is ceremonial in Pakistan but he is still the constitutional chief of the armed forces but cannot order deployments.

He also appoints the services chiefs at the recommendation of the prime minister.

Pakistan so far had 11 presidents, out of which five were military generals. Four of them illegally got powers through coups, whereas first president Major Sikandar Mirza was elected in 1956 after the first constitution was adopted.

I have not mentioned DNA or Evolution theory anywhere in my post. I dont subscribe to the Idea that dissimilar people can not live together. Please note homo sapiens evolved in Africa and spread all round the world as per science. If we refer studies on people of India they point to more or less uniform genetic makeup.

    Dear JN Bejai
Manmohan Singh was born in Gah village in Chakwal district of Punjab in Pakistan on september 26 1932. How ever this does not make any difference to any body as Pakistan was made on the basis of religion and not on geography. Remember there was once a East pakistan also. ( Please google Manmohan Singh)
For a scholarly account on partition read "My country my life" by LK Advani. Even if we dont agree with him , all our assumptions will be put to test.

What is the connection between USA & Israel and Pakistan's problems? Unless you are blaming obesity in the ruling elite who are fattened by receiving US aid.

Don’t have high hopes in this man, a poisonous tree will only bear poisonous fruits. The mere birth of an individual on any location on this planet cannot and will not change their thinking and their ideologies that they subscribe to. Remember, all Pakistanis prior to August 14, 1947 were all born in what was India, but they disowned their motherland and dismembered the very same country where their ancestors lived for hundred of years so that they could form a separate homeland based on an ideology.

Today, things are even worse and if you read their history books you will be shocked and appalled as to what they are teaching their children. Instead of teaching them love, co-existence and living in peace with neighbouring India, they are being fed with lies and distorted history. This is the ONLY country in the world where a child is taught to have great love and admiration for all those who looted and plundered the subcontinent and Mohammad Ali Jinnah the founder of Pakistan is held in highest esteem. Whereas, regretfully they spit on the graves of their forefathers whom they directly descended from, just because they were from a different religious background.

Even Manmohan Singh was born in Pakistan. Musharraf in India and so on.
The ideological fallacy of partition was criticised by Moulana Abdul kalam Azad with predictions for both the countries which are surprisingly on dot as of now. The mistrust and sense of betrayal created by this event are easily visible.
