State Govt to ask Centre to include Tulu in 8th schedule

From Our Special Correspondent
Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Jul 31: In an emotive issue that is very dear to the people of coastal Karnataka, the State Government has promised to submit a detailed proposal to Centre seeking inclusion of Tulu language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution.

This assurance came from Kannada and Culture Minister Umashree in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.

Replying to B A Moideen Bava, Congress MLA from Mangalore North assembly constituency, during the question hour, she said the State Government fully supported the demand from the Tulu speaking people of the coastal region for inclusion of the language in the eigth schedule of the constitution.

Umashree said a proposal had already bent to the Centre but authorities in Delhi sought more information about the origin and number of Tulu speaking people in the State.
“We have yet to get the data on the exact number of Tulu language speaking people as per the 2011 Census,” she said.

After obtaining the authentic Census data on Tulu speaking people, the department would submit the revised proposal to the Centre, she said.

Earlier, the department had submitted the proposal based on the 2001 Census.
The minister said the Centre had written to the State last month seeking details about the language and the number of Tulu speaking people in the State.

Centre Sanctions Rs 2.92 Cr for Kannada Development

In a reply to a  question from JD(S) member Gopalaiah K JD, the minister said the Centre sanctioned Rs 2.92 crore for the development of the Kannada language under the classical status given in 2008.

Efforts would be made to obtain more funds from the Centre in the coming days.
Earlier, Y S V Datta of JD(S) said that the State had received negligible funds compared to Tamil, which was granted the classical language status earlier.

The State has not made efforts to seek more funds from the Centre to promote the Kannada language, he said.

With the nethravathi issue gaining momentum, now the time has come to unite all tuluvas and fight for our identity so as to stop our natural resources being plundered away by the kannadigas who don't have even basic knowledge of our beautiful tulu culture and who tease and degrade us tuluvas in a barbaric and sexy language calling TULLU NADU in social medias like facebook. JAI TULUNAD, JAI TULUVAPPE.
At least one person is leading us today the great iron man Janardhan Poojary, truly speaking i have not voted for him sticking onto Modiji. But now his stand on our mother land TULUNAD is really appreciable. Let us see what he does to save Tulunad in future

Dear Yekanatha, for your kind information kannadigas only 40% of Karnataka's population ,and tuluvas are 70% in mangalore and 70% in udupi. Do u also know there are no kannadigas in our region. YOur kannada dominated administration gives fake information. The information given by you is the information which is being given by kannad gang. Its not true. Let me tell you how its not true. Koorg consists of Kodavas. Belgam Maratas. Udupi, mangalore Tuluvas and Konkanas. North kenara - Konkanas. Andhara belt most are telugas. In bangalore itself Kannadigas are only 35%. Do u know this genuine information. There are 30% tamilians in bangalore. 10% telugas and 10% tuluvas and konkanas in Bangalore. Do you know 30% of Mysore is tamilian. Do u also know Tamilians in Karnataka do not like your language. Where as i do not hate any language. But kannadiga poiticians always have double standards. Truly Tulu Nadu deserves a separate state

Kannadigas are only those people whose mother tongue is Kannada. All tulu Nadu people are ignorant that they are tuluvas and konkanas and not kannadigas. Tulu nadu has only Tuluvas and Konkanas. Those Tuluvas and konkanas who claim to be kannadigas should be ashamed of themselves. Tuluvas and konkanas stop being slaves of kannadigas and form a separate state - tulu nadu. Why be the slaves of kannadigas who are linguistic fanatics and have caused so much of injustice to our mother tulunadu by way of endosalfan tragedy, dangerous projects in tulu nadu, not allowing tulu nadu to grow, job discrimination to the people of tulu nadu, intentional discrimination in all spheres. Do u tuluvas and konkanas still want to be the slaves of kannadigas? Kasaragodu, Uttar Kannada, Udupi, Kodagu and Kudla districts need to formed under Tulu Nadu state. The current slavery imposed by kannadigas on the tuluvas is so much that tuluvas and konkanas do not even know that they are tuluvas and konkanas. If this kind of injustice was done to Tamilians or maratas, would they have tolerated for so long? Are the brains of Tuluvas and Konkanas working?

I am a Konkana and not a Kannadiga. All tulu Nadu people are ignorant that they are tuluvas and konkanas and not kannadigas. Kannadigas are those whose mother tongue is Kannada. Kannadigas in this state are less than 40%. Rest are Tuluvas, Kodagas, Konkanas, Tamilians, Telugas and Maratas. The Kanndiga gang claims there are 6 crore Kannadigas. Where are they? There are only about 1 crore kannadigas

This clearly shows her ignorance of the subject matter eventhough she is the Minister. She says that they have not got the exact number of Tulu Speaking people in the Coastal Districts as per the census 2011. It takes nearly two years reach the figures to her department. Silly it is. I would appreciate please study the documents which were submitted to Mr. Oscar Fernandes and Mr. Veerappa Moily (which certainly might have gone to dust bin). Or else request Tulu Academy to furnish the details. For that matter you may approach Hon'ble Shri V. Heggade of Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala where you will find all the required inputs. If you are sincere about the subject you will collect these things before hand and then approached Central Govt.

Regarding the above subject we had given the appeal to Sri Oscar Fernandes and Sri Veerappa Moily during Delhi Tulu Siri Convention in December 2012. Also UAE Tuluva's submitted seperate appeal to Sri Veerappa Moily during his recent trip to Dubai. During Delhi Tulu Siri convention they have promised that they will do the needful immdiately through the Prime Minister. Even in Dubai Sri Veerappa Moily mentioned that its under process. They never used to talk about the origin, number of Tulu speaking Tuluva's or the census. Both the Ministers are born in Tulunadu and they dont know what is the strength of Tuluva's in Tulunadu? Out of six million Kannadiga's 2 million people are talking Tulu language and all our Ministers & MP's are ignorant. Why? Its really shame for them. Atleast we should thank Unashree, Minister for Kannada & Culture for her efforts.

Why centre's sanction of only Rs.2.92 crores for Kannada. What Sri.YSV Datta said its 100% right. We Gulf Kannadiga's are not claiming any sanctions from the State Government whether it is Rajyotsava celebration or Vishwa Kannada Sammelana. In future, I urge all the Gulf Kannada Associations to claim certain amount of Government sanctions for our programme instead of pressurising our local sponsors all the times.

With all these, I hope the dream of Tuluva's will come true soon. On behalf of TULUVA'S my best wishes & sincere thanks to our Kannada & Culture minister UMASHREE for doing this great work.
