Mangalore - Margao intercity train to chug-off in December

Mangalore - Margao intercity train to chug-off in December

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (GA)

Mangalore, Aug 3: The much-awaited Mangalore-Margao intercity train which was announced in the last railway budget will start chugging-off from this December, said Udupi-Chikamagalur MP K Jayaprakash Hegde. A final decision in this regard was taken during the meeting of the railway minister and the railway board recently.

The train will start from Mangalore Central at 8.15 am and shall reach Margao at 2 pm. On its return journey, the train will leave Margao railway station at 4.15 pm and shall arrive at 10 pm at the Mangalore Central station. The train will have stops at Udupi, Surathkal, Bhatkal, Kumta, Karwar and Madgaon railway stations.

As known, a passenger train is already in operation on this route for long but often the passengers have complained that its timings are quite inconvenient since it starts as early as 6.20 am at Mangalore Central station and reaches Margao station at 1.30 pm. On its return trip, the existing passenger train leaves Margao at 2 pm and arrives at Mangalore Central at 10 pm.

The proposed intercity train is scheduled to connect Vasco-Nizamuddin Goa Express which leaves at 3 pm for Delhi. It will also be a great help to coastal passengers travelling to Londa, Belgaum, Pune, Delhi and Shirdi.

Hegde also said that the Bhatkal - Thokur Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) train will also chug-off from December 2013

Please note : that yourself sitting in Falkland Islands ( off Argentina ) can book a ticket on Indian Railways over the internet. You need not go personally to the Railway Station. That was in the old days.Boss grow up !

Dear Baby regarding your comment you are the first person who said we are Indians. Or elese every keralite here in gulf introduce them as from Kerala not from India. I heard some times when people from other country ask them are you from India they will reply "No i am from Kerala". So suddenly people get confused Whether Kerala is in India. or India is in Kerala. The first thing Keralite ask is MALYALIANO. I always reply to that question India. Then they will start speaking Hindi or English if they Know.

But just to remind you, if you ask a person from Belgaum as to which state he belongs to, he would reply MAHARASHTRA because they all speak Marati. These things happen boss ! What I said is you already have a good number of trains, like Nethravathi, Poorna Express, etc. all passing via Goa which stop only at a few stations in Karnataka. So if this new train is extended to Kozhikode, then I'm sure passengers from Karnataka will have to travel standing. Mr. Baby Antony John: Let the people from Kerala do not monopolize the Railway Network. Enough is Enough. You have more trains from Kerala to Goa than any other State in india including Karnataka (Mangalore). Do not poke your nose unnecessarily here. Jai Hind, Jai Karnataka.

The Railways belongs to all Indians equally. All are equal under law. Is it wrong to demand an extension to Kerala or TN ?
