Udupi: Ban Muslims from eating beef temporarily - Gulam Mohammed

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (GA)

Udupi, Aug 5: District JD (S) working president Gulam Mohammed has requested the Khazis from the undivided district of Dakshina Kannada to invoke a temporary ban on eating of beef by the Muslims.

In his media release Mohammed has further requested the Muslim brethren to refrain from supporting the cattle lifters. A number of cases of cattle stealing have been reported both in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district in the last few months. Hence it is imperative that no one supports and shelters these cattle lifters. Let the police take action against these offenders, he added further.

Police should immediate raid and shut down all the illegal slaughterhouses that are operating stealthily in the both the coastal districts. These slaughterhouses are the chief reason behind the increased cattle trafficking, he stated.

Such regular incidents have increased the gap between the two major communities of the coastal belt. So it is the duty of all the God fearing Muslims to put a full stop to such incidents and help police to carry out their work without any pressure and fear, he said.

I feel this is the karnama of outsiders, with the guidance of locals. Meat may be going out of our region or other states. Police with the help of people should teach lesson to these culptrits.

Gulam Mohammed has Requested his Muslim brethren to desist from eating beef temporarily which will affect the illegal slaughter houses a great deal. Others who eat beef too should join hands to curb this illegal activity which prompts those law breakers to steal cattle from various places.

It is a sane and well thought of request which will definitely help in avoiding any communal clashes.

I hope every one sees his request in a way it should be and not otherwise.

Let us help the law by doing that.

Even the Minister has warned the Police not to be lenient on these illegal traffickers\sellers of cattle meat and to arrest those involved in that activity.
I appreciate U T Khader's immediate action. He has been alert from the beginning on various issues. We have a good minister there.

It is our responsibility to make sure what we are eating is haram or halal.Have to verify the source of meat by looking at whether vendor providing it from halal source or not.If we have any doubt then better to abstain from eating it which is prohibited in Islam. Also it is government responsibility to protect legal trafficking of buffaloes from distance sources. It is because of Sanghaparivar goondas act beef vendor now a days not taking risk of importing buffaloes from other place instead looking for local source to fulfill beef demand. Both act of anti social element is highly condemnable

Eating food whatever suits or liked by someone is their fundamental right. There should not be any restrictions on this other than the doctor prescribes if related to ones health. India is a democratic country, WHY????? cow slaughter is banned in Karnataka whereas all over the world it is considered just as another meat like mutton, chicken or pork? If any section or caste does not permit them to do this, why to put restrictions on others? What will the farmer do if the cattle is not of it’s use or can not afford to feed the cow/calf? Should he make it starve and die of hunger?? The ban should be lifted officially to avoid all these issues so that our politicians concentrate more on developments and providing employment to these people who waste their precious time behind all this.

Gulam Mohammed’s statement is typical of any politician. Though Muslims can squarely be blamed for the incidents of cattle theft, the hand of the Saffron brigade cannot be denied – to tarnish the image of Congress (but I am not a supporter of any single political party). Moreover, if ever the cattle thieves are Muslims, they are not stealing them for eating, but to sell. So banning Muslims from eating beef will not serve any purpose – it is a senseless quick-fix solution that can only come from a petty politician.

Dear Gulaam Saab... You have hit the nail at right place saying such incidents are indeed the reason for widening the gap between two major communities. Discouraging these cattle thieves within the community is very important than imposing the bans and rules which are never followed.

Positive Step..Keep it up Mr.Gulam Mohammed..But cattle thieves don't listen..If you don't eat no problem. We will transport it to Kerala..Last week one family from Suratkal lost Cow (Austin breed) which used to give 65 ltrs of milk every day..It was a bumper prize for thief because that Austin breed cow's weight is nearly 800 kg..! Blame goes to owner too here..He should have given more security to cow..Kote Looti aada mele, baagilu mucchhi yenu labha ?

why ban the meat? Why you want to go against the fundamental rights. Why you go against the SC.Let the police and people protect the live stock. People should leave their cows on public places and public roads.People should understand their duties. The cows often gets stolen from the public places because people leave them stray and then complain that the cow is stolen. In our country people not even spare stealing money from temples and you expect your cows to be safe on roads.

Mulsim community has been maligned by this act of cattle theft. I call upon young and responsible muslim youths along with their hindu counterparts to form a group/team and do the patrol and catch hold of cattle lifters and hand over them to the police without taking the law into their hands... United we stand and devided we fall. United if we put up a front in fighting cattle lifting, definitely we can do it and Inshah Allah all our dumb cattles shall be saved from illegal salughter houses...I hate those who do anti social and anti islamic activiities....Their names should be displayed and they should be paraded in the main street.

Brother Shahnwaz, I totally agree with you in this. It's totally Haram for us to eat any form of meat without knowing the proper source of it. and i have no doubt that these days more than 90% of beef meat is supplied through cattle theft. So its better for us to stop eating beef ASAP. I wish the Imams or Khateebs of every masjid in undivided DK and Udupi can give a speech on this and enlighten our community in this regard.

Let police do their job properly, rather creating a group and taking law in to the hands of any individuals. Is it such a big crime that police cannot handle this?

Cattle lifting/ stealing has increased alarmingly!

Why cattle lifters have become so brazen? Why stealing is increasing day by day?

Depriving the owners of their lively hood and livestock!

Police should take very strict action on cattle thieves. There should be full stop.

RIGHTLY SAID ALBAN. THIS IS LIKE LOOKING FOR AN EASY SOLUTION AND WRONGLY DIVERTING THE FOCUS FROM THE NEED TO INVESTIGATE AND PUNISH THE GUILTY CATTLE STEALERS TO THE INNOCENT CONSUMERS WHO ARE BEING UNFAIRLY TARGETED TO NOT EAT BEEF.
TACKLE THE PROBLEM OF STEALING, DONT DIVERT IT.
