Kasargod: Dubai-based businessman murdered, robbed

Kasargod, Aug 5: Masked men entered a Dubai-based businessman's house in Trikaripur here late night on Sunday August 4 and strangled him to death after tying him up and his family.

The deceased is A B Abdul Salam (58), who owned Novelty Group Company in Dubai. He headed KMCC in Dubai and was running a hotel and other business.

At around midnight, six persons with masks came to his house in a car and rang the door bell. Salam's daughter opened the door.

At the same time, her brother Sufi emerged from the bathroom, and seeing him, the men barged in and held him captive while also threatening to kill him.

On hearing the noise, Salam came into the room, and the men hit him on the head with a chair. They also tied him up and strangled him to death.

Shocked by the sight, Salam's wife began screaming. The men forced her into a room and tied her up too, and gagged her with a gum tape. The boy Sufi was forcibly locked in bathroom.

The men then demanded Salam's daughter to hand over the keys to the cupboard, car, bike, and also the mobile phones in the house. The frightened girl did as she was told, and the men looted the house completely, taking away even the vehicles. The men opened the cupboard but did not find any valuable items. Hence the thieves snatched the gold jewellery worn by Zainab and her daughter.

The girl told the police later that the assailants spoke a mixture of Malayalam and Hindi.

Also, there were CCTVs in the house, but the attackers smashed them and took away the recording too. The gates of the house are remote-controlled, but were out of order for the past one week.

Salam who stays in Dubai had come down a month ago on account of Ramadan. It is yet to be ascertained whether robbery or some other motive was behind the incident.

Sources said that a few Bengalis had come to the house sometime back. Police are understood be probing this angle too.

An eyewitness said that the masked miscreants came in a white car. But the registration number was not known.

As per the information obtained, the men rang the door bell and entered the house stating that they had come to ask donation.

Salam was looking after several businesses over the past few years. Police suspect that the thieves might have attacked the house expecting huge amounts of money stashed in the house for Ramadan donation.

Chandera circle inspector M P Dinesh Kumar, Neeleshwar circle inspector T V Sajeevan conducted primary investigation.

Fingerprint expert and canine squad were pressed into service.

District police chief Thomson Jose arrived at the spot and conducted investigation. The body was shifted to Pariyaram Medical College Hospital.

Chandera police have registered a case.

It seems WELL PLANNED MURDER..Robbery is to divert the attention of police..Robbers kill person only if victim challenges or protests them..Business rivalry or some other dispute might be the reason..

Jacob Nelson, why are you comparing this 10 yr old to other incident with daughter in law. i think we have no right to judge others, for your parents you must have born early that does not mean that MR. sALAM CANNOT HAVE A CHILD IN HIS LATE 40'S. eVERY PARENT OR COUPLE HAVE THEIR OWN DIFFICULTY SO PLEASE STOP COMMENTING ABOUT HIS MARRIAGE AND CHILDREN

Wow! CCTV's installed in the houses in Mangalore/Kasargod? Wow! Either you are too afraid of your locality with the people you stay with, good precautionary measure, but other side, you are too wealthy and you know some day something like this will happen, so you install it!
Anyways when you install all this, make a note to hide the camera's from plain sight, will serve the purpose of installing them!

Kelven, moreover CCTV captures only evidence of crime, it will not alert the house owner before crime!!..Instead of CCTV people should maintain good realtionship with neighbors, have emergency alert or siren system and at least have 2 good Dogs (faith is nothing to do with Dogs, all over world people keep Dog, Police & militaries of all the world keep trained Dogs)..

There is something fishy in this case. For sure there is a inner hand in this or someone who knows the house very well.
CCTV footage taken, automatic gates out of order...all points to inner hand. whoever it may be deserves the strictest of punishment.

Mr Baby, a Gentleman yesterday in this forum on the Article titled 'Madgoan -M'lore Inter City Express' had commented that S.Kanara was famous for family disputes.O.K. Let us agree for a minute. However, the kind of stories we get to read from Kasargod in particular, persons coming there by flights from abroad, fake currency, terror links, prostitution rackets etc, etc is sickening.Lawlessness
seems to be the name of the game there.Nothing even good humoured writers can do to ease the atmosphere. Think the region is beyond any help.....

Robbers have also taken few Mobile Phones of the family too. This will help Police to trace Robbers' whereabouts faster. Moodbidri Jain Basadi Theft could be solved only with the help of mobile phone Tracer.
Robbers knew about CCTV which shows they have visited the house earlier too as friends.

Daughter is a small girl so she opened the door. she was not tied because she was harmless to robbers. she was terrified so she gave all the keys to robbers. There is nothing fishy about that innocent girl. Why people are always prejudiced about girls when the name of any girl is mentioned in any case. It is Old Indian mind-set to find fault with girls always.

why people thinking so cheaply, without knowing the fact, directly blamed the small girl, really its dirty mind thinking, and even if she is elder girl then also the possibility is there , unfortunately she opened the door, and the criminals dont tied her, cause they need one person who to do their work, and she is harmless to them have to do for the sake of her parents life.
