Mangalore, Aug 6: The All College Students' Union formed a human chain and blocked the roads for about half an hour and protested against the carry-over system in polytechnic course.

The protest was held at Hampankatta here on Tuesday August 6.

Addressing the protestors, association legal advisor Dinkar Shetty said, “From past 32 days polytechnic students have been protesting throughout the state against the present carry-over system. Students carried out peaceful protests, hunger strike and also submitted memorandums to the chief minister through deputy commissioners of respective districts. But the government has not shown any response in favour of students."

He added, "The present carry-over system puts the future of the students in jeopardy. Government is responsible for the death of Santosh Kumar in Udupi and should give Rs 5 lac as compensation to his family."

"Justice Ram Mohan Reddy’s verdict is in favour of students, but the government is not following the order. If the government fails to solve this problem, the All College Students' Union will take the protest to the doorsteps of the chief minister and the education minister," he warned.

"In future if any student commits suicide, the government will be held responsible. DTE board director H U Talwar is misleading the minister in this issue,” Dinkar said.

The students demanded justice by forming human chain on the road.

Association president Ramith Shetty, Vinay H J, Deekshith, Sachin Bangera, Ashwith B, Srilatha, Vinay, Lohith Kumar among others were present.

If there will be changes in the current system, students may not take extra care on studying and this will spoil student’s life/talent. They should know that success comes through hard work.
