Madikeri: 44-year-old man arrested for raping two minor sisters

Madikeri, Aug 7: Madikeri city police have nabbed a man on charges of raping two minor girls.

The arrested is identified as Vasanth (44), resident of Hosa Badavane. He is an electrician by profession.

The incident came to light when the victim, a class 8 girl (12-year-old) told her classmates about the incident. In a complaint to the police, it is alleged that she was raped at least 5 times earlier. Accused Vasanth had raped the victim's sister too, said police sources.

As per the information obtained, Vasanth got the two sisters and their parents stay in his house with promise of providing free education to their daughters. Police sources said that the accused committed the cruel act when the parents were not at home.

The incident was brought to the notice of women and child welfare department. The department officials gave a complaint to police and in response the accused was arrested soon.

Vasanth is a married man and has two children.

For security reasons, the victim girls have been shifted to Bala Mandir.
