Mangalore, Aug 7: A public grievance redressal meet presided over by the Mangalore South MLA J R Lobo was held here on Wednesday  August 7 at former deputy mayor Anusuya Maben’s residence at Dambel, Ashoknagar.

The prime issue put forth by the public was that regarding the underground drainage system. They said that many areas of this ward have been facing various problems with regard to the drainage, especially manhole overflow, leakage, pipeline damage and so on.

Road widening, especially from Urwa Store to Shediguri was another main issue that was discussed in the meet. With regard to cleanliness, some of the locals said that waste management has not been mainatained well. "Weeds and plants have been left unattended," said some locals.

A few said that though garbage had been collected from their doorsteps, it was being dumped near the bins, from where stray dogs drag them out and litter around in the surroundings, thereby increasing chances of spreading diseases in the vicinity.

"Fogging and spraying of anti-mosquito chemicals have not been done from quite a long time," the locals pointed out.

Problems related to electricity, waste water and a few more issues were discussed in the meeting.

In response, MLA J R Lobo discussed the above issues with the engineers and officials concerned and directed them to find permanent solutions for the problems, and ensure that they are not repeated. He also asked them to be punctual and strict with the works, especially those related to health and basic necessities. Later, along with other officials, he visited the spot and examined the problems.

Corporators Nagaveni, Radhakrishna and Padmanabh Amin, T K Sudhir, Krithin Kumar, Satishish, Chethan, city corporation officials Rajashekar, Sudarshan, Majunath Shetty, Anil Kumar, Jayanath and others were present.

anti mosquito chemical is nothing but another form of deady endosulfan..that's the reason the corporation doesn't spray it. It should be banned completely. It's more deadly dangerous for humans than for mosquitoes.

Really good work by MLA Sri JRLobo. Such grievance meeting be held frequently and in other wards also in absence of the ward committees. I hope that many problems/issues will be solved through such meetings. The concerned corporators should also be present for such meetings. Our Corporators seldom to visit the problematic places and try to settle the issues.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Mr. Lobo just this morning from U.S.A. and I did not hesitate in saying that he has taken his duties seriously.
as an assistant commissioner J. R. was a peoples' mand and he continues to be a peoples' man.

When people non active MLA’s this is what going to happen be it Lobo Mamu or Bhatt Mamu!!!! Anyhow charm of Mangalore is gone forever ever since stand in State has been changed. On an average daily basis crime is reported from Mangalore region and even our Police looks at them helplessly since Political Leaders playing more influencing game than solving the problem

Previous government forgot to build footpath and drainage systems.
This Government just has to build gutters along side the roads and construct a footpath over the gutter..

Since officials concerned are in INERTIA caused due to breakdown of governance in erstwhile government, Lobama had to remind these same officials of their duties towards citizens, if possible a mild caution with encouragement to do good. If Lobama doesnt listen to grievances of people in his constituency directly, officials concerned will never wake up from deep sleep ( byproduct of Yeddi/Sada/Jaggu misrule). I wonder whether any BJP MLA ever conducts an interaction with people to know their problems and also their expectations ? Most BJP MLAs are on holiday for 5 years. Well, they can enjoy as people in their constituencies are not bothered to kick them out of power.

Lobomam might have received the job description list of a Corporator rather than of a MLA....
These type of meeting usualy fixed for area Corporators.
Lobomam should play bigger role than these types which is the need of the hour.

There are some people like Jeevan and Nagesh etc. criticise everything what Congress MLAs' and Government does whether it is good or helping poor people etc. Yet they praised Yeddy and Reddy even though they looted half of state wealth. Either they are paid workers of BJP or they are just vindictive.
