Kundapur: Bike riders assault police - Fight erupts

Silvester D’Souza
Daijiworld Media Network – Kundapur

Kundapur, Aug 8: A bike rider was asked to stop his vehicle after it was noticed on a triple ride, although the riders did not stop and  in turn the police chased and intervened the bike.

On questioning the reason for the triple ride, the bike riders reportedly attacked the police officials and the police counter attacked the group. Both the groups are said to be injured and are admitted to hospital.

The incident happened on Wednsday, August 7

Traffic police Manjunath T, hailing from Chitradurga was deployed recently at Parijatha circle here. Being new on the job, he had faced problems in language fluency.

As per the information obtained, around 7 pm, when Chethan, Ranjith and Naveen were triple riding on a bike, Manjunath asked them to stop. But the riders refused to halt and continued onward. Meanwhile, the police chased them on another bike and questioned them.

The police interrogation added more confusion to the situation which ended up in a fight. Out of the three riders, one escaped from the spot while Chethan and Ranjith were taken to Chinmaya hospital.

Manjunath too visited the hospital and questioned them which resulted in further fighting. Police sources said that they lost a walky-talky during the incident.

Speaking to the media, the riders claimed that the police used abusive language during their interaction. "We attacked them when they spoke ill about our parents," said one of the rider.

ER You have said that the Policemen abused, You need to prove that in the court that the policemen abused which you cannot that is why you are trying to twist the story. Policemen are provided weapons from your tax money to protect and not the criminals who break the law. Unless you prove that nobody believes in you. You are trying to throw the blame and create a false allegation without any evidence. Seeing is believing. According to your allegation everyone feels here and considers you as one of the member of the bike riders, that is why you are supporting the people who have violated the law and who have committed the crime. In order to escape the crime you are trying to throw the allegation on someone else and be safe. Sorry, you can see in the pictures here the bike riders are arrested and not the policemen. Policemen will book them for assault and take the bike riders to the court and not the vice versa. You are frustrated and desperate trying to save those criminals who have assaulted the policemen who are Government Servants. Khanoon khey Haath Bahooth Lambay hotha Hey. Criminals always try to escape but the law follows them. Again not vice versa. You are trying by all means to succeed but you cannot unless you prove with evidence.

@blann - Why cannot you take up the case of the police who abused the youths? WHAT you preach to others does not apply to you or what? Infact you may hire US attorneys to defend them. For your information its the Court which decides who is right or who is wrong NOT YOU. Whoever is wrong they will pay the price.

ER, Every person's name is Important. Your name is very important, it is not just an identity. The name is so important that it explains your behavior, attitude, Your ability, your knowledge, character, your personality, your finger prints, Iris Recognition, Your DNA, Your blood group and your history. I am happy that your brother is a lawyer. You have to be proud of that. He has gone through lot of hardship and studied to get his law degree and also he is practicing as a lawyer. But The law degree will be next to his name but not to your name. You are trying to adopt his knowledge and degree to your name. No one will accept that any where in this world. You look frustrated in this debate. Now you are saying you need the proof that the three law breakers did ride the bike. So this article published by daijiworld has no value. I would be happy if you would be a witness in the witness stand of the court room. I would sit and watch the argument. You are criticizing the wrong doing of the police here in the debate as a peer. This is not considered a brave attitude. I have told you to be in the witness stand so you will disclose your full name and prove it in the court then I would appreciate you for your bravery.

Many of the Kundapur people are very arrogant and give scant respect to the law.
Most of their parents have lot of wealth from their forefathers, as such well known and one can say "feared" for their rowdy behaviour which of course takes them "One up" over the police and officials with their influence.
This particular policeman most probably was not aware of this fact and results are there for all of you to see.
They should take up this case and put those three behind bars and thrash them to teach them and others a lesson for not stopping when the Police told them to and then scrapping with them.
Many of other Kundapurians from outside Kundapur also abet this kind of rowdyism by way of comments.

Impose a million rupees fine one motorists who do not stop for police, but do not use the abusive language and attack them. Some people are very sensitive for abusive language for their parents and for their religion.

A US Army Major shot 13 people dead and injured 26 more for reportedly insulting his religion and God by the fellow soldiers.

Some people become temporarily insane when they hear abusive language about their parent. It may cost life of police officer and the accused as well.

Police need to be trained accordingly. I would jump on police, if they use the abusive language for any of my family members or insult me in front of my family or dignified friends.

Law doesn't authorize the police to use the abusive language or assault the victim.

Again, fine them as much as you want to but respect the human dignity.

ER, Please read the article, In this article the editor's first sentence is "A bike rider was asked to stop his vehicle after it was noticed on a triple ride, although the riders did not stop and in turn the police chased and intervened the bike". I have commented according to the daijiworld editor's article and not according to your personal opinion. The police will file a FIR. F.I.R. is the abbreviated form of First Information Report. It is the information recorded by the police officer on duty, given either by the aggrieved person or any other person about the commission of an alleged offence. On the basis of the F.I.R. the police commences its investigation. As you should understand, Any person can file an F.I.R. He need not be the aggrieved person. It may be merely hearsay and need not be by the person who has had firsthand knowledge of the facts. An F.I.R. can be filed in the police station of the concerned area in whose jurisdiction the offence has occurred. It must be made to the officer-in-charge of the police station and if he is not available the Assistant Sub Inspector is competent to enter upon the investigation. When a wrong has been committed and the aggrieved person or any other person wants to file a F.I.R. it shall be filed in the following manner.
Go to the police station and meet the officer-in-charge.
Step by step in an orderly sequence narrate to the officer every information relating to the commission of the offence.
The officer shall reduce the information given in writing.
The information given shall be signed by the person giving it.
The information given shall be entered in a book to be kept by the officer. If the officer in charge refuses to record the information, the information may be sent in writing and by post, to the Superintendent of Police concerned who, if satisfied that such information discloses the commission of a cognizable offence, shall either investigate the case himself or direct an investigation to be made by any police officer subordinate to him.Once the F.I.R. has been registered the investigation in the case shall begin.

Donot get confused with issue. THE ISSUE HERE IS mis behaviour of the constable which is equally punishable like the triple ridres.

ER you are supporting the people who are disobedient citizens and who have broken the law. The riders claim that the police used abusive language during their interaction and so they attacked them when they spoke ill about their parents. They do not have any recording of such statements or proof that the policemen used abusive language. You are criticizing the policemen without any evidence. The riders are trying to get support from the people and cover up their wrong doing. But in the court you have to prove that the policemen used abusive language. Are you standing as a witness for this case. If you get into trouble you have to go to the police station and complaint about it as you cannot take law into your own hands. When the policemen has asked to stop you need to stop, no arguing, if you anything to argue please file a case, take your lawyer and visit the court every time you are invited, only then the lesson is learnt.

Rules and regulations of the police department cannot be changed without the permission of the central government or the state government. The Change in statements and laws have to be approved according to the constitution by the parliament or the supreme court. That is why there are law makers. So I have to write all the necessary steps according to the Government law for you to understand. I have no right to change any statements issued by the police department in accordance with the state government or central government. That is why we must obey the law as good citizens.

The bikers might have tried to escape what is that so important to catch them and then get beaten up and then call for back up force.
The violation of human rights is every day incident in India. The police have become unwanted elements for the general public. The Police also behave very strange when you approach them for assistance. The Police always use abusive language towards general public. The Police always looking for some loopholes where they can milk money from the public.
Triple ride is a crime but if it is an emergency and if you are taking patient or injured on the bike then it is humanitarian grounds. The police also often take the accused on the bike triple ride like sandwich.

Police are public servants not the masters. Their salary is paid from tax collected from the public. Here the constable should have noted down their bike number and acted as per law instead of abusing their father in bad language. Does law permit police abuse innocent fathers? First suspend the constable and teach him little bit of decency and mannerism. if the constable is not fluent in kannada how was he ed i to the force in the first place.

My concern is, why when someone is fined for not having complete documents, police do not issue receipt for the amount received? because of the 'pocket money' there is a lot of checking on bikers in Kundapur. I completely agree that bikers should have complete documents, though it is difficult to carry them during the monsoon.

Even in Mangalore a number of irregularities can be seen as far as the traffic and the traffic ploice are concerned.
    1. At the Tajmahal jn on our way to townhall from K S Rao rd there is a right turn for which the signal remains for hardly any time. At times the green signal for right turn will be on, yet the traffic from Milagres towards K S Rao rd is allowed to go by. Even if a vehicle wants to go to the right at Tajmahal jn, the police forces everyone to go ahead and then take a rt turn in front of wenlock hospital. The oncoming buses from Milagres and the vehicles from station side add to the chaos immensely. The right turn at the Tajmahal junction from KS Rao road can be prolonged a little more to ease the traffic.
    2. Many a times it is seen that vehicles coming in front of Khazana jewellers take a right turn at the Tajmahal junction towards the K S Rao rd right under the nose of the traffic police posted there, even though there is no such provision for that.
    3. There are times when vehicles coming from Milagres take a rt turn towards light house hill road at the Tajmahal junction. This also happens under the nose of the traffic police. I hope the concerned will look into the genuine difficulties of the drivers than harass them.

Police asked the three riders on the bike to stop in a good language. As in this article it says the police asked to stop. That means the policeman gave them respect and asked them to stop and obey the law. But the riders did not stop. So the riders did not respect the police and did not obey the law. Then the police had to use his energy and waste the government fuel to go behind those illegal riders to stop them and start questioning. When these three riders did not obey the law and did not obey the orders then the police had to use his effective language to bring them to their senses. The three riders provoked the policeman , and the policeman was on duty, so it is the question of obeying the law and order. Now these three riders are considered as criminals for attacking a Government Servant on duty.

ER how can you prove that the policemen used abusive language. If you have proof or evidence then you need to stand in the witness stand of the courtroom to give that evidence. I will be still sitting in USA and will be doing the jury duty. The background of all the policemen have been checked by the concerned department when they applied for the job. They were ed and were trained by the department and they are now doing the job. Now you or me do not have any authority to go and check their background because we are not going to give them any jobs. Policemen are given authority to stop any person who break the law. So you have to stop. If the policemen has done wrong then it is your duty to find a lawyer and prove it in the court. You have no authority to argue or fight or take law into your own hand. The judge will decide who should get the punishment.
