Mangalore: Pigmy collector bravely fights off robbers

Mangalore: Pigmy collector bravely fights off robbers

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Aug 9: In an incident which took place near Mudipu on Thursday August 8, two robbers in a scooter attempted to loot a pigmy collector but fled from the spot after the pigmy collector counter-attacked them.

The pigmy collector is identified as Narayan Bhat, resident of Kodakal in Kurnadu. The robbers who were attacked by Narayan Bhat in a bid to defend himself, left the scooter and fled from the spot. The scooter was later seized by the police and investigation is on to trace them.

Narayan Bhat, a farmer by profession, has also been running his business at Mudipu. He is also working as pigmy collector for Ammebal co-operative bank.

On Wednesday night, after collecting pigmy, Bhat was on his way back to his house in his jeep via Ira road, when two people in a scooter came to him and told him that the jeep tyre had a puncture. However, Bhat did not heed to their words and drove on. The men later overtook the jeep and started questioning him for not stopping his vehicle.

Meanwhile, Narayan got hold of a sickle in the jeep and attacked one of the men. The other person held Narayan’s neck from behind, but even he was attacked by Narayan.

The robbers then fled from the spot in their scooter on Kodakal road. Meanwhile, Narayan Bhat cried for help from locals.

The robbers who did not know the way to Kodakal, reached a dead end where they finally left their scooter and ran towards a wooded area.

It is highly risky to go from Ira to Mudipu through Muloor road at night as various untoward incidents take place, said locals. A few years back, a couple was also murdered here. There are no street lights between Janashikshana office and Muloor, posing more danger for commuters.

A case has been registered in Konaje police station.

Those Robbers seem to be past masters, and committed many robbery with the same modus operandi.
Now when they are caught on the basis of their Scooter registration, Narayan Bhat should get monetary reward from govt for helping police to catch such old robbers and solving many old cases in one shot.
Narayan Bhat has also given important lessons to other vehicle owners about self defense as well as precaution to be taken when other riders overtake you pretending to be your well-wishers and mislead about your Tyre puncture or other pretext.

Crime rates have gone up after congress assumed office in karnataka as thieves have become bold without any fear of consequences.
Some people who call themselves DAIJIWORLD BHUDDIJEEVIGALU yesterday criticised public thrashing of a thief caught red handed. Do they have any answer to Mr.Bhats action?

Life is become difficult in Mangalore in recent days. Total collapse of Law & order. Only Rapits Murderers & looters roam in road nowadays. They don't even spare senior citizens. Local MLA's please look into some real matter concerning to current situation than digging the past.

    Dear Mr. Gerald.
I am a senior citizen myself.
In my life I never got scared of anyone and anything and never will be. I advise you to do the same.
    This is essence of life.
Please learn from senior citizens like us.
Live as a proud man today. Hold your head high and walk as a proud man.
One day living as a king of the jungle is better than living 100 years as a rat. I was a soldier, will live and die like one as a proud person holding my head high.
Please note that I am not insulting you and this reply was not written without any malice towards you.

They under-estimated Bhat and paid for that..
