Mangalore: BDNE to award scholarships to 225 students on Aug 11

Mangalore, Aug 9: “Billawas Dubai and Northern Emirates (BDNE) in association with Shree Gokarnanatheshwara Temple Kudroli and Shree Guru Charitable Trust will distribute scholarships to deserving students here on Sunday August 11 from 10 am onwards at President Koragappa Memorial Hall, Kudroli Temple,” informed Jeethendra Suvarna, president of BDNE.

Addressing a press meet here on Friday August 9, Suvarna said that B Janardhan Poojary, former union minister, K Vasanth Bangera, MLA Beltangady, H S Sairam, president, Kudroli Temple and Sadanand Suvarna, president, Shree Guru Charitable Trust, will be the chief guests at the function.

Speaking on the occasion, Uday Kumar Kateel, secretary of BDNE Educational Committee said that the association has received many applications, but the trust has chosen 225 students eligible for this scholarship.

Among the 225 students who will receive scholarships, eight students will be honored with Talent Award. This apart, 14 people who are suffering from ill health will be given financial assistance.

The members of the trust have personally visited the homes of the applicants and have checked their financial background, and other criteria which are necessary to receive scholarship, he said.

“The BDNE has engaged itself in several social activities from the year 2001. Till date, the association has been successful in handing over scholarships to nearly 1,250 students, aid to various associations, schools and colleges at a total cost of Rs 51 lac, medical aid of total Rs 15 lac, Rs 9 lac aid for widows and other funds amounting to Rs 2 lac. Totally, BDNE has given aid of Rs 78.79 lac to the needy,” he added.

Praveen Kumar Attavar, Sudhakar Poojary, Mohan Attavar, Vittal Poojary, Prabhakar Suvarna among others were present.

    Great efforts of BDNE in helping the poor students to Billawas community. If every community start this kind of charity work then there is great future for every deserving student irrespective of their cast and creed and poor financial conditions.
    We have well settled people in USA,UK Australia from every community and hope this article will motivate people to help the needy students who often discontinue education due to financial conditions.
