Karkala, Aug 10: "It is necessary to have meetings like these to retain the essence of earth and civilization," said former chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda.  He was speaking after setting in motion ‘Aatidonji Kamalakoota’ programme held under the aegis of BJP, Karkala unit at Neklajeguthu near Kalikamba here on Saturday August 10.

"When the youth gather during such meetings, relationships develop. When the tradition of conducting bullock races in mud fields continues, it will contribute to the development of our country along with upholding tradition and values," he said.

"When Swami Vivekananda came back to India from America, he had rolled himself in the mud on the ground.  When asked, he had said that his body had become unholy due to his stay abroad.  This explains his respect to the homeland," he added.

This programme reminds us of the example of love of the country set by Vivekananda," Gowda said, stressing on the need of politics based on love of the motherland and expressed his condolences on the recent killing of Indian soldiers by Pakistan on the border.

MLA, V Sunil spoke and said though youth organizations assemble at a place during elections; the Karkala BJP unit has conducted this programme that will unite the youth.  Such an exercise will be useful during the next Lok Sabha elections, he said.

Senior BJP leaders Bola Prabhakar Kamath, M K Vijaya Kumar, Udupi district president Udya Kumar Shetty, taluk president Maniraja Shetty, district Yuvamorcha president Pangala Vilas Nayak, taluk Yuvamorcha president Mahaveera Hegde, taluk panchayat president Rashmi Shetty, vice-president Jayavarma Hegde, local president Giridhar Nayak, APMC president Pradeep Kotian, Bola Srinivas Kamath, R Vivekananda Shenoy, Antony D’Souza, Subhas Kamath and other people representatives and BJP leaders participated in the programme.

Hate politics in religion/festival. Festivals are public or societies interest. Don't bring politics in festival,school/college,sports etc. If it moves each party has to celebrate their own party festival like Kamala Deepavali, Congress Dasara, it divides unity of society.
