3 accidents put post-Eid morning traffic in a jam

Dubai,  Aug 12 (EMirates 24/7): With the extended Eid-Al-Fitr holidays now firmly behind most Dubai residents, chaos returned to the morning commute with three accidents reported within an hour.

All major arteries, including Al Garhoud Bridge, Sheikh Zayed Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (old Emirates Road), have reported on separate incidences, bringing traffic to a crawl for many returning office commuters after the Eid holidays.

Dubai Police reported on all three accidents, with the first one around 8.45am, tweeting: “An accident has been reported on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road from Al Rashidiya Bridge towards Jebal Ali.”

Twenty minutes later, a second accident report made it to the timeline, with the authority tweeting: “An accident has been reported on Al Rebaat road opposite of Dubai Festival City towards Al Garhoud Bridge.”

Ten minutes later, it was said: “An accident has been reported on Sheikh Zayed Road opposite of Jebal Ali Port towards Abu Dhabi.”

A commuter who was coming in from Business Bay said: “Traffic has spilled over onto Al Khail Road, so even the Dubai Mall exit from there was jammed, with people avoiding all the other major access points. I was delayed to work by nearly 45 minutes.”
