Kundapur: Assault on traffic cop - Absconding youngster arrested

Kundapur, Aug 13: The absconding third accused in the attack on a traffic police was arrested by the local police on Monday August 12.
As reported earlier in these columns, a traffic police Manjunath stationed at Parijata circle here had tried stopping a bike that was carrying three youngsters. However, the rider refused to stop and sped away.
But Manjunath followed them on his bike and intercepted their bike after a chase. When he tried questioning the youngsters for violating the traffic rules and then trying to escape, a quarrel broke up which resulted in an assault on the traffic police.
While two of the accused Ranjith and Chethan were detained on the spot, their third accomplice Naveen had managed to give a slip to the police.
However, the police managed to nab him on Monday. Later he was produced in the court. The magistrate remanded him in judicial custody till August 24.
