Mangalore: Rajasthan man arrested for stealing 3.6 kg gold

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore

Mangalore, Aug 19: Mangalore police with the help of their Rajasthan counterparts have successfully arrested a person who looted 3.6 kg of gold worth about one crore rupees two weeks ago.

The arrested is identified as Sagar Gehlot from Pali in Rajasthan. He was residing in Mangalore.

He was working as an assistant to Hasmukh Kimraz from Mumbai, who is currently residing in the city.

Hasmukh is into manufacturing gold jewellery. He collects ornaments from various jewellery stores in Mangalore and sends it to Mumbai, where he makes different designs of jewellery and returns them to the stores.

On August 5, Hasmukh asked Sagar to keep 3.6 kg of gold collected from Bantwal in his house. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Sagar brought the gold to Mangalore and on the next day, he fled from the city with the gold.

Hasmukh who had lost the gold, filed a complaint with Bunder police. The complaint also stated that there might be a possibility of miscreants kidnapping Sagar for gold.

Even as Bunder police were planning to catch Sagar, Rajasthan police had taken him into custody over there and passed on the information to Mangalore police.

The city police who had left for Rajasthan, arrested and brought him back to the city.

Further investigations are on.

When cows were stolen and the news appeared in this forum, some fundamentalists commented "This is India and minorities are looting this country" Now I am asking that fanatic does crime has any religion or does any religion support and teach crime....So people should be wise in their comments and not to target one particular community...Our politicians loot our country and hoard money in foreign banks, they dont belong to minority community.. Are they not looters of this great country??

    Dear Sirs,
I was called from a mobile number to purchase gold at 50% value. Thinking about fraud, I told the man introducing himself to be from Rajasthan and speaking good Hindi, to find someone else for the deal. Could he be the person or did the police net him before the call and someone else is duping unsuspecting people?

As the city grows the crime rate is bound to grow. This is quite natural. As the people of our twin districts are peace loving and have a long history of harmony with the people of other faith we only need to work hard to bring back the lost glory in our neighborhood. United we live it will be difficult for the ill thinking people to succeed in their plot.

The people living in the western coast of India down from Mumbai to Trivandrum are economically well off, educated and the cities down the western belt are cleaner and richer, which tempts people from northern states where poverty is rampant to come here and indulge in such acts. Additionally the people living here are less violent and are timid when compared to people living in other parts of the country. In short we are easy pickings for these type of people. I am not saying that we should hate migrants from the other parts and try to chase them away like the Shiv sena in Mumbai, but we should be alert and be more careful while hiring people for work. A thorough check on their backgrounds is necessary before hiring or getting into any business ventures with strangers.

People belonged to Western Coasts from Mangalore to Mumbai..are involved with underworld..in one or another way. It's consists of people from all religion people. Due to clamp-down/encounters some are withdrawn from the same..and taking shelter in and around Mangalore..but involvement is still there. Mangaloreans always thinking of big..to become rich and not involved in petty crimes. Moreover Mangaloreans are daring people..!! Jude..you wants to learn many things..!!

One of the most silly comments to come across from you. You claim to know everything, when your knowledge is only miniscule. Just tell me what percentage of people from Mangalore are involved in underworld? Just because you hear the names of a dozen or so underworld gangsters who have run away from Mumbai and are hiding in Mangalore, it does not mean that all Mangaloreans are involved with the underworld. Please note that it is because of the wealth of Mangalorean, they are receiving constant threats from the underworld. This was something that was unheard of about 20 years ago.

Its easy for these people to settle in Mangalore/udupi compared to any other neighboring south indian states. This is because our people have the big heart to speak in hindi and help them until they settle in all the ways , but in other way those people hardly help us in north.

Mangalore is being invaded by crooks, chores, rapists from other states.

We need to have additional police force (CID's) to control this criminal epidemic.
