Mangalore: Jana Jagruti Samiti holds massive protest against cattle slaughter

Mangalore, Aug 19: "Cattle thefts have been increasing ever since chief minister Siddaramaiah gave permission for cow slaughter. The Hindu community should take care of their own security and should not rely solely on the government or police. Hence, whenever there is an attack at your house, make sure that you have the right weapons and attack the culprits for you own safety and security," said B Manjunath Mandya, Karnataka south zone convener of Bajrang Dal.

Addressing the gathering during the protest organized by Jana Jagruti Samiti in front of DC's office on Monday August 19, he asked Hindu families to keep lethal weapons at home for security and also appealed to the district administration to take strict measures.

"People of other communities should not hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus. When something happens to them in different parts of country, the effect is felt elsewhere. When this is the case, why should we tolerate them," questioned Mandya. He advised people against cattle stealing to bring peace to the society.

He also asked the authorities concerned to book cattle thieves under the Goonda Act and warned them of serious retaliation, if they 'find a drop of cattle blood on the ground'.

"Police have been unsuccessful in tackling illegal slaughter and cattle thefts and in addition to this the police ask people to pass on the information whenever we come across these incidents," alleged Kateel Dinesh Pai, convener of Jana Jagruti Samiti.

"With regard to stopping illegal transportation of cattle, people ask us why we take matters into our hands. As an answer to them, we say that it is our Constitution that has given us the right to arrest a person and then hand him over to police under section 43 in the code of criminal procedure," he added.

Pai demanded authorities to shut the illegal slaughterhouses. "If no positive response is received, then we will intensify our protest by holding a hunger strike in front of these slaughterhouses," he added.

Prior to the protest a rally was held from Jyothi circle to the DC office.

Vidyadar Heggde, president of Jana Jagruti Samiti, Vijay Gowda, secretary, Sharan Pumpwell, MLC Monappa Bhandary, Kishore Kumar among others were present.

What we Indians need to learn is to respect humans irespective of religion, cast and creed. we Indians must gather around and protest the killings of humans. we need to voice our concerns against atrocities on women, children and downtrodden. when this is done and we teach this to our young ones the respect and love for animals will follow just like few years ago. people must stop gathering around rouges who use these platforms for their mileage and not for the love of animals.

Of course cattle stealing is like poor mans stealing bread from the mouth.it should be punished by Govt.but not every Tom and Jerry as it is now in Mangalore.Everyone thinks he is the Boss, and Police dont say anything to that.May be they are thinking their Job is less.that makes others light to catch anyone on the road with a cow with or without licence. That should be banned and punished. For all These Problems only way is stop slaughter houses in Country Import Beef from other countries like Argentinien or Ireland like European countries do let the cooled any meat houses sell them. Then the meat is provided to whomsoever needed cattle stealing will stop automatically ,no protest(hope)everybody will be happy.

I kindly suggest all these recently sprouted organizations to open slaughter houses in every taluks.

Presently we have only one cow slaughter house in South Kanara District.
    1) Belthangady - No Cow Slaughter House.
    2) Sullia - No Cow Slaughter House.
    3) Bantwal - No Cow Slaughter House.
    4) Puttur - No Cow Slaughter House.
Due to only one Cow Slaughter House in Mangalore heavy to heavy burden on one and transportation of cows and cow meat to and fro to all these taluks increases meat prices.

Therefore, all meat consumers should have a meet to increase meat in the market there by allowing one each slaughter house in each taluk/four taluks.

THEN YOU WILL FIND THE MEAT PRICES WILL FALL DOWN IMMEDIATELY / INSTANTLY.

Wishing you all the best to meat eaters and non-meat eaters.

The problem is with us is, we are more worried about illegal cattle trafficking and slaughtering. It is really important to raise voice against cattle trafficking menace. But the people are really forgetting more pressing important issues like absence of footpaths, open manholes, improper road signs, road filled with potholes etc. So many precious human lives are lost during past years due to utter negligence of officials. No one bothered to raise their voices against such issues which are affecting human beings.
There are several other issues like filthy market places, filthy public toilets. Throwing household rubbish in non designated areas by respected citizens. Improper disposal of solid waste
No one protest about these issues, which are if not fare more, equally important like illegal cattle trafficking. Is a human life is less important than a cattle?
No one bothers about real burning issues, every one is involved with issues which gain them political millage. When we will wake up?

why are we having protest everyday on beef and cattle issues only in coastal Karnataka? why not in other districts, this clearly shows all this is nothing but baseless issues and to stay in media.

This will not work anyways, over the time people have understood and realized all tactics and politics behind this.

Dear, sir, stealing anybody's goods, whether it is cow or anything else is wrong and has to be condemned.
But what I see in the protests is politicizing the issue of cow stealing with cow slaughter. In India, cow meat is one of the food items of many people. And those who have valid licence to sell the cow meat, have to be given their right to exercise. In European countries special breeds of cows are grown only for meat and similarly another breed for milk. why not the govt do something to organize this in our country too? why can't we facilitate the availability of quality meat in the market by encouraging those who could tend cows or other animals used for meat? Let us be civilized in our claims and be rationalistic in our approach. What I see in these protests is only hypocritical attitude by which the protesters balackmail the government. In the speeches of some speakers, I see a tone of taking the law into their hands. They should be taken to task and interrogated. They are undermining both the police force, the Indian Law and the constitution of our country. May the people of our state be wise not to be swept away by the false propaganda of these fake protesters. thank you

Stealing cattle from other people is bad and this should be the only message to spread across. Retaliation with leathal weapons is not something that has to be taught to kids (or any grown up person too). As I put my point across, I would also like to share some of the horrible scenes that I have seen on the roads. Domestic cows were left on the road with a rope tied to one horn and one leg. The poor cow could not even walk, it was just pure torture. Also seen people just leaving these animals out in heavy rains and nowhere to go. I totally repect the sentiments of a religion but this is not the way you treat an animal you pray to. Again, there are only few people who act like this and I urge the Jana jagrathi Samithi to address such issues as well.

How we can survive eating only vegitables. Prices of vegitable also have been sky rocketting.

Indian's mentality is going back to the stone age. We will never attain our goal towards modern, scitific India. Still crying over cow slaughter.

Do not kill anything wich has got life.

Atleast, we can import all such stuff from abroad but how we can affort to pay. There also a problem, Rupee is having a free fall. Save India/Indians before it is too late. We are very proud being carried away by our sentiments.

Cattle theft is of course not accepted because cattle is the life line farmers and villagers. They spend their life and time to rear the cattle for their livelihood.
But we very well know that the number of the cattle is fallen drastically due to the educated and young people opting to work in towns and not in their fields and farms.
what we see in news every second day the protests and rally in the name of cattle theft and slaughter is political gimmick. All those who have participated in the protest rally should be given cows, buffaloes to rear and protect from all theft and slaughter. Lets see if they can prove their religious sentiments and concern over cattle. They have no any other issues except for cattle theft and slaughter to prove themselves to win the 2014 election.

Why this Samiti is hell bound to spoil the future of young generation of his own community ? Look at the pictures. Major protesting members are students in uniform. Who is this Mandya ? Would he allow his children/relatives to join the protest skipping the class ? He is poisoning these young minds to keep lethal weapons at home ? Weapons against whom ? Do we require external enemies if we have stupid leaders like this ? Why can't he go to border and fight the enemy ? This is the character and quality of these useless Samitis, Vedikes, Sene and Dal. Only aim is to spread the hatred, harm peace and create divisions among our own Indians. They are more dangerous than our external enemies because external enemies we can identify, but these internal enemies are like cancer. Jai Hind. Jai Karnataka.

Jana Jagruti Samiti, it is not your duty to introduce ways of defense (here it is attack). Our police are paid for the purpose.

Where were you, when Morning mist attack, church attacks and icecream parlor attacks were taking place? Why you did not advocate same morals against moral policing. By this way you are trying to build communal disharmony in the society.

Best way is to request the government to put total ban on cow slaughtering and import beef from exporting countries and provide the meat at subsidized price to beef eaters. Problem solved. All will be happy.
