Mangalore: Nalin Kateel raises question on connectivity to Port in Parliament

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Aug 19: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel recently raised the question of connectivity to New Mangalore Port in the Parliament and asked the union minister for shipping to give details in this regard.

Raising the issue during the question hour, Nalin Kateel as the minister 'whether port connectivity to New Mangalore port is insufficient as the connectivity to national highway is poor and heavily congested' and to give details if so.

He also asked the minister to explain measures being taken by the government to ensure adequate road connectivity to New Mangalore port.

To these questions, minister for shipping G K Vasan said that the New Mangalore Port has adequate road connectivity and is connected through three national highways to its hinterland and the rest of the country.

"The national highway 66 (NH-66) runs from Panvel (Maharashtra) to Edapally junction (Kerala) and connects Mangalore to Suratkal.  The national highway 75 (NH-75) connects Mangalore to Bangalore and NH-169 connects Mangalore to Sholapur (Maharashtra)," the minister said.

On measure taken by the government in this regard, he said that New Mangalore Port Trust has contributed funds to National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for road network from Suratkal to B C Road.  This project has already given connectivity to the Port."

This place is fit for Zig Zag Maize game!! ( Rain or shine!! Former is tough)Ask any commuter from Airport and around through Kateel to Belman, Sirva and so on!! Worst than Former Udupi Kalsanka!! May be we need to wait for DC Ponnuraj type to handle this!!! It is useful to elect right candidate ignoring religion, cast and party!!

Probably his first question in Parliament at the fag end of his term !!! South Kanara people are supposed to be highly educated and brilliant. But when it comes to voting for a good representative to the Parliament from Mangalore, they suffer from Alzheimers. Thus their education and brilliance is a sheer waste.

Here some Congi People are always concerned about language skills of Nalin. Whenever a news about Nalin comes, they say only tulu/kannada, no English/hindi.

Here nalin asked a question, Port minister understood his question and gave reply. For a common man this is sufficient. I don't think people need to worry about which language he spoke. People should be happy that our MP raised local issue in Parliament of India.

Nalin is among very few MPs from Karnataka who speak in Parliament. Others are Ananth Kumar, JP Hegde, Prahlad Joshi.

    Dear Dinesha..

For your comment, "People should be happy that our MP raised local issue in Parliament of India".

He is been elected by people to ask the question in the parliament and solve the local issues, and act as representative to the Public. Not to eat Pan Beeda intsead. It is his duty, not a favour on Public.

He should have ask same question to Oscar Anna because he is the minister for Highways and road infrastructure.
Oscar can understand Tulu -Kannada both.
    Solve the problem.

Finally Nalin Kumar opened his mouth in parliament after a long time.
    1) How did he convey his message in parliament when he does not know other langauage? God knows how.
    2) What a silly question raised by him. Even people over there would have laugh at him for this question. He himself have lost his reputation along with name of our city by asking this question.
    3) He himself is from mangalore and he does not know the connectivity to mangalore port. Probably hs driver takes him on ride to mangalore from kateel. So this poor fellow may not be knowing the connectivity to mangalore port. This sort of people are working in BJP who has a only knowledge to fight in the name of religion, state etc .. But dont have any penny of ethics, princicples, knowledge etc.

Never mind yaar how he conveyed his question.
If you go to Russia you will face the same language problem. But there is always a solution for that.
There are translators. One need not know english\hindi\russian to convey the message\question.
Only, he should be grateful to Daiji and it's guys here in the forum who actually derided him and made him ask this question and that helped.
    Good going Mr. Kateel.
Actually his question is not silly - there is reporting mistake here- it should be "Whether Road and not port connectivity.....
And because of his question now we all know how the connectivity is there and the Port Trust's contribution towards it.
But because of his long silence until BJP was governing, he has lost out. Congress has done him good.

Nalin Anna is one of the best MPs in India. People of Dakshina Kannada are lucky to have him as their representative.

I wonder where are those people who questioned language capabilities of Nalin???

I also wonder why hi-fi english speaking Moily, Oscar, Kharge, Dharma, Vishwanath are always in SILENT MODE in Parliament???

Clear indication of language deficiency with Nalin though it’s a genuine problem could not be convinced… “Connectivity” is not et al problem with our port… It is sensible if he would have insisted to upgrade existing 3 NHs to 6 lane….

Sometimes we have to be satisfied with what we get....
Finally his efforts to ask a question in the parliament, realised!!

(people of Niddodi would have been more happy if he had asked clarification on the planned Thermal Power plant, as he had personally gone there and inspected. He would have been looked upon, if he had done that.
