Beltangady: Man killed as car plunges into 150 foot ditch off road

Beltangady, Aug 21: In an incident which took place at the Charmadi ghat section on Tuesday night, an Innova car fell into a 150 feet deep ditch and as a result one person was killed on spot and six others were injured.

The deceased has been identified as Mohan (27), son of Chandayya Nayak from Ujire.

Among the injured, Subramanya (40) is admitted to a private hospital in Ujire, Ranjith, Prasad and Pratap at a hospital in Mangalore while injured Avinash is admitted to a hospital in Moodigere.

The incident took place in Banakal police station limits.

Sources said that the car fell into a ditch on the ninth curve on the way along the Charmadi ghat.

Mohan and a few relatives were attending an aunts wedding at Ujire. After the wedding few of relatives decided to visit the scenic beauty of the Charmadi ghat . On their return the driver is said to have lost control of the vehicle which caused the accident.

There were a total of seven people in the car, out of which one was killed on the spot while the rest are injured. Among the injured two have been admitted at Ujire hospital, three in Mangalore and the rest were taken to Moodugere hospital, said Banakal SI.
