Udupi, Aug 22: In a new turn of events in the Manipal gang rape case, a charge sheet has been filed against the three main accused and also against the two supporters who tried to destroy the evidence.
It may be recalled that the accused on August 12 were granted an extension of judicial custody until August 26.
The three main accused were sent to Shimoga jail, while Harindra and Balachandra are lodged at Hiriadka jail.
Manipal police inspector Sadanand Tippanawar filed the charge sheet.

The incident involved the alleged kidnapping and rape of a Manipal University student earlier this year. Among the three accused two had tried to commit suicide before their arrest. They were subjected to judicial custody soon after.
