Mangalore: Talaq troubles - High drama as woman stops hubby's second wedding

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore

Mangalore, Aug 26: As there was no permission obtained from the Jamath and his earlier wife had an objection, the second wedding of Abdul Samad which was supposed to be held on Sunday August 25 at JMJ hall in Bajpe was stopped.

Abdul Samad (28) from Mooduferrar was married to Fathima Suva in 2010 and the couple has a 2-year-old baby boy. But recently due to some conflict, he had given 'Talaq' (divorce) to his wife and case over the custody of the child is in court.

Amidst all these problems, Abdul Samad had decided to marry a girl from Mangalore on August 25.

Objection from first wife

All the necessary arrangements were done for the wedding and on Sunday August 25, Abdul Samad arrived at the wedding hall along with his family. When there were just a few minutes left for the Nikah, his first wife visited the wedding hall along with their son and expressed objection.

She along with her family members said that Abdul Samad had not obtained permission from Mukka Jamath regarding their Talaq.

Permission letter from Jamath is important. As per the tradition, when the first wife is alive and a man wants to re- marry, he has to inform his Jamath and his ex-wife's Jamath about the Talaq given, and obtain a permission from them. Here, Abdul did not obtain permission from Fathima’s Jamath.

Due to heated discussions between the three families with no positive conclusion, Abdul’s second wedding came to a halt.

Bajpe police and women’s police arrived at the spot and maintained law. Officials of Prajna counseling center also arrived at the spot, who spoke about the responsibility of taking care of the child. As the case over custody of the child is pending before court, Abdul Samad will not be able to return abroad for work.

Most of the people (either Muslim or non-muslim) make funny of Talaq or remarriage. Most of the Muslim does not know the meaning and formalities of Talaq and four marriages. Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) legalized the Talaq reluctantly in the last context (I request with the readers better to refer the Talaq in quran before jumping into conclusion or commenting unwanted). Four marriages means it does not mean that one is divorcing and marrying other and other is divorcing and marrying another etc.. Four marriages are legalized in Islam (as per Sharia) if he justifies equally with four wives in each and every field so he can keep four wives otherwise not legal.

Whatever may be the cause, divorce should not be opted until and unless it is inevitable. There are so many valid and genuine reasons stipulated in Islam for divorce. People should adhere to these reasons and should never misuse it. Islam is indeed a great religion. Never judge a religion by looking at its followers. May Almighty give justice to all.

Police Department should question this police man for wielding the pistol in one hand and speaking to somebody holding the mobile phone on the other hand at this crowd. This action seems very dangerous. Secondly Abdul Samad could have solemnized his marriage without the permission from the Jamath and/or his first wife. We do not know the reason for the Talaq here but Talaq is the last option to be taken to dissolve the marital bond which is disliked by our Creator. People reach to this point with the lack of fear of our Creator (Holy Quran 3 - 102).

Its not the first solution for the issue but the last one only..

I liked your comments very much.
Do you know what's the difference between Talaq (Islam) and Divorce (Other religions).

    - If person in Islam if said in fit of rage Talaq, Talaq, Talaq..it means almost over.

    - In other religion for Divorce are given certain time. In this period they can join together on there consent. But in Islam it differs...If wants to join women should do Nikkah with other person and to give Talaq.

It's a cruel act on part of women.

    Ramesh,

You are right. An Arab parent will not marry his daughter to a person unless he meets the basic necessity like housing, transport etc. unlike Indian dowry system where the girls parents has to pay hefty amounts to the groom. Both are not right, but in a way it is far better than our Indian culture where dowry is a burden to the girls family.

All laws favouring the dominant male should be scrapped.

We cannot have 10th Century laws in a 21st Century world.

This melodrama is just a temporary solution. If the boy wants to get married to the second girl, he will surely obtain whatever documents he needs in this regard.

How this would help the first wife.

OOfff! Gun in one hand & cell-phone in another! Who is he shooting at? Dispute between the couple over divorce & is it necessary to this police(foolish)man to show the revolver? He could instead use it when there's unnecessary communal voilence & shoot the people who are taking the law in their hands, am I right? I pity this police man!!

These biased religious laws made for only men should be abolished. God has not acknowledged this. Only man made for lust. Brave women. Kudos. Women should form organsation to abolish such laws.Let it start from Mangalore.. then in entire state.., to country and to the world one day.

    Dear sir,
You are blaming the men without knowing the truth. He already divorced legally as per sharia. The reason for stopping the marriage only for not getting the permission from her Jamath. It was a silly reason. Don’t stand by always with women without knowing proper reason for divorce.

Dear Sachidananda Shetty, I know ur concern here...!!! He may have valid reason to divorce his 1st wife..And its all legitimate as per Shariah...I feel its better way compare to few men who show off themselves as Gentlemen(even though facing rotten relationship) and enjoying pleasure outside of marriage...I may get few dislikes here, but this is the bitter truth..Analyze where u Stand, u know it better...!!!
