Mangalore: Madrasa teacher arrested for sexually harassing 6-year-old

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore

Mangalore, Aug 26: Konaje police on Sunday August 25 arrested a Madrasa teacher on charges of sexually harassing a minor girl, based on a complaint filed by the girl’s mother.

The arrested is identified as Abdul Khadar Yamani from Poyyatabailu. He used to allegedly sexually harass a 6-year-old girl from Boliyar.

Abdul was appointed at the Madrasa a few days before the beginning of Ramadan. He indulged in sexual harassment right from day one, said the girl. He also allegedly threatened and warned the girl not to inform others, hence the girl, frightened by his threats, remained silent.

However, the girl had told her classmates about the teacher's misconduct, and the school faculty came to know about it. When they questioned the girl, the incident came to light. The faculty soon informed the girl’s parents and in-charge of Juma Masjid.

A complaint was filed with women and child welfare department. As per their guidance, the girl’s mother filed a complaint with Konaje police. The police soon arrested Abdul and produced him in the court.

Police have received information that Abdul was also involved in sexual harassment incidents earlier too and cases were registered at Kannur and Poyyatabailu police stations. The court has sent him to judicial custody till September 6.

There is always a lack of words when I hear or read such a terrible news. I have no explanation why adults are able to abuse or rape children and to destroy the life of a child. The child suffers from a trauma and to undergo a trauma therapy is extremely difficult.
I only hope, the child will recover!

Thousands of rape cases are being reported in India every year. If our law hangs at least 100 rapists till death, out of these cases every year, in 4-5 years, we can see lot of decrease in rape cases.
People should have fear of law.

    Parents..Educate your children about sex..

1.Children should be educated to refuse chocolates offered by strangers

2.No one is allowed to touch chest, between the legs and back side.

3.If anyone touches it with force, immediately child should scream NO..NO..(screaming should be so loud that it should reach someone and offender stops out of fear and shame..

4.Child must report this incident either to parents or teacher or very reliable person..(mother is the most reliable in this case)

5.Definitely we can control Sexual attack on children(not fully, but to some extent) if children are educated. Please strart right now...

Well said, spreading awareness is very important, some mothers feel uncomfortable to talk about these things with their teenage girls while discussing such things openly is still viewed as a taboo in our society. There is an urgent need for periodical workshops at school level or village level to educate the girls by self help women groups. Also a database of sexual offenders should be maintained and a list of such persons living in that locality must be provided to the schools/colleges of the area.

    VERY BAD
ITS RIGHT TIME TO GOVERNMENT TO THINK ABOUT TO INTRODUCE CCTV TO ALL THE SCHOOLS AND MADRASAS IN THE STATE. DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION SPECIALLY POLICE DEPT.SHOULD THINK AND IMPLEMENT SOON. NOT TO WAIT UNTIL MORE INCIDENTS TO OCCUR.

If you think that all these sexual harrassments are new in our society then you are wrong.
Today media has become strong and people have become vocal and hence the cases are getting highlighted.
Nothing is going to change till we have strong legal system in our country.
Many of us atleast once in lifetime may have encountered these sex predators. They mostly target children whether it is male or female. If you ask me, yes i have encountered these people in childhood.

This is the hight of frustration. Although the law takes its course, sometimes I feel these guys should be left to be handled by the public. With this kind of incidents, one gets the feeling that inspite of strict laws in place they are on the rise, which means they are not scare of police and laws. So let the public teach them a lesson because they are the sufferers and know their loss well. I only hope things will change and India will regain its lost image.

"Police have received information that Abdul was involved in sexual harrassment cases earlier and cases are registered in Kannur an Poyyatibail police station". Multiple cases means he is a offender. How much proof does our so called law and order and judicial system needs to punish this guy? Judicial custody till Sept 6. And after that? Might be our system needs a body of a child to wake up and take action? Castrate him and put him to shame in public so that others will think twice before hurting others.

Let Bajrang Dal and Popular Front protest against sexual harassment which has become a routine work and spreading like a cancer in the society.Everyday we can read news about rape on child..One of the Mumbai rapists confessed to police that same gang raped some girls earlier too !! They used to take video of rape scene and threaten victim not to report to police. But here, brave photo journalist didn't give up.Even from the hospital bed,she said "Rapists should be life imprisoned".But our Government and legal system both are weak.Thats why these types of Saitans and Pishaachis survive...

Where has the morals of the people of this country has gone.. Many spiritual gurus, many teachers, and relatives are being engaged in these activities. These people are supposed to be most safest a child can hang out with.... The govt need to revisit the laws on sexual assault and need to make sure that such people should never be escaped. They should be hanged.
