Mangalore : SJEC women's team bags VTU Chess championship

Mangalore, Aug 26 : St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor, Mangalore, Men & Women chess team participated in V T U Single zone Chess championship conducted by KVGCE, Sullia from 22nd to 25th August 2013.

Twelve colleges under VTU were participated in Women Chess championship. Among all, SJEC Women Chess team was the Winners of chess championship for the consecutive 5th year.





The team played four rounds  to won the Championship. First round won against SDMCET, Dharwad by 4-0, Second round won against VCET, Puttur by 3-1,Third round won against JNNCE, Shimoga by 3 ½ - ½ , Fourth round won against Canara Engineering College, Bantwal by 3-1.

Iora Manisha Pinto, IV year E&E (Also won the 2nd Board Prize (Captian)) Riyola Vela D’Souza, III year E&C (Also won the 3rd Board Prize), Megha R. IV year E&C (secured the 2nd position in the 4th board) Roshin Jacob III year E&C (secured the 1st position in the 5th board) Swathi , III year CSE(1st Board player). Vaneesha V. Rodrigues, Assistance Physical Education Director was the Team Manager.
