Udupi, Aug 28: Rowdy Nagaraj from Kundapur, escaped from the hands of the Kerala police while he was being brought to appear before the Udupi court.

On August 28 at around 9:30 am, Rowdy Nagaraj managed to escape from the Kerala Police at Indrahali railway station while he was being brought via train.

The culprit has been involved in a majority of crimes such as murders and robberies in Kerala and Udupi in other parts of Karnataka. Four years ago when he was behind bars in Hirriadka- Anjar jail in Udupi, he was involved in the murder of jail inmate Vinod Shettigar.

This is not his first attempt of escape, as earlier he had escaped from the clutches of Haveri police.

Search is on to trace the culprit. More details awaited.

Why did nt the police handcuff the culprit while bringing him via railway. Police who escort the criminals have to be alert. It looks that the criminal bribed his way and escaped.

This is all an eye wash Mangaloreans! Shettigar's murder was planned with the help of the police and plotted by none other than Pitty Nagesh himself. The police are hand in glove with Nagaraj's escape. Money talks and money can make a criminal like Nagesh walk away forget 'run' from the police!

While that may be true, I am not going to shed any tears for Shettigar! I am glad he is dead too! I hope more rowdies keep killing each other.

I agree with you. But when the Police are hand in glove with the rowdies then what does that make the Police?.. Rowdies in uniform??!!

Both Mr.Bhandarkar & Mr.A.D'souza's comments are correct..Rowdy Nagaraj is a very cunning. He put chilli powder on ASI Ram Naika's eyes when he was being taken to court in Hubli and escaped.Later public caught him and handed over to Hubli Police. He escaped from Hubli jail too and went to Kerala..He was caught by Kerala pollice..now escaped from their hand too..I agree with one of the readers comment "He is indeed a Charles Shobhraj of Udupi.." (it is reported that Nagaraj was handcuffed when he ran away-fix & run possible)

The Great Escape!Smart fellow!! Reminds me of Ibrahim, the notorious thief of Akash Bhavan in Mangalore who escaped from police custody several times. He was therefore aptly nicknamed 'ESCAPE IBRAHIM' by the police dept. itself! What a shame!!

Nagaraj is like Charles Shobaraj!!Good in police escape.. The kerala police would not know in Indrali the ways of escape.. If they run behind him someone else will have to escort them back to station..
One good job they did is they came upto udupi to reach him to his home town.. Nagaraj should have atleast thanked Kerala Police before escaping..
If caught again the Police will definitly show Yamaraj ..
He will be caught soon by Udupi Police...

Actually, it is a very good idea. The same happens in the movie about a real-life counterfeiter ("Catch me if You Can" - Leonardo Di Caprio) where the police finally catch him and employ him! He is still alive and working somewhere in US...

The main question how he is escaped from police??? First of all he does not have handcuff??? If he haves handcuff he cannot run speed. Police does not have pistol while they are shifting such criminals??? If they have pistol why they cannot encounter??? Is it police brings him with naked hands??? This seems something fishy

It's nothing but effect of 'PUTTU'..prepared in rocket-type object..
Not so strong even to hold a culprit tightly...
Instead let them introduce 'Kori-Roti'..for all police personnels..
One of highest consumed state in Liquor..!!

    Nyaigagi...
He won't looks like Convict..at all
    Can he kill somebody..
Kerala Police should be given 'Ragee-Mudde'..a last option..
All the time they are under the influence of liquor..
One of the highest rate in crime..a Kerala State..eventhough considered a cent percent literate.

How rowdies are escaping from Police every time when they are producing to court. It shows that laziness on the part of the police & Loopoles in our security system. He got a chance to do any crime outside if he had any revenge on any other person
