Kundapur, Feb 11: A student from Kergal near Byndoor here who was studying in Nitte Engineering College ended his life by hanging himself from the roof of his house on Friday February 10 afternoon.

Ravikiran (19), the only son of M Govind, a retired bank employee and Rajivi, a teacher at Khambadakone was alone at home on Friday.  While his father had gone to attend a marriage reception at Kollur, his mother had gone to the school. In their absence Ravikiran committed suicide.

According to initial reports Ravikiran might have committed suicide between 10 am and 2.30 pm.  The suicide came to light only when the housemaid came for the work after 3 in the evening.  She found the front door closed.  So she entered the house from the back door and to her shock found Ravikiran hanging.  Immediately the news was passed on to his parents.

Ravikiran was studying engineering at Nitte Engineering College and had come home on holidays.  In his suicide note he has stated that he found engineering studies difficult which led him to commit suicide.

The Byndoor police have registered a case in this regard.
