Indian Mujahideen chief Yasin Bhatkal arrested : Reports

'Secret operation led to IM chief Bhatkal's arrest'

Patna, Aug 29  (IANS): The operation to arrest Indian Mujahideen chief Yasin Bhatkal was so secret that even after his arrest only few top Bihar Police officers were informed and they too were not told about where he was being held for questioning, an officer said.

Bihar Police played a major role in the arrest of Yasin Bhatkal, who is wanted in bomb blasts across the country, Bihar Police chief Abhayanand said here Thursday.

"It was Bihar Police that mainly helped NIA (National Investigation Agency) and other government agencies to arrest Bhatkal," Abhyanand told mediapersons here.

Bhatkal was arrested from the India-Nepal border Wednesday night and is in the custody of the Bihar Police.

"A team of Bihar Police officials have interrogated Bhatkal at a secret place after he was arrested," he said.

East Champaran district Superintendent of Police Vinay Kumar said that Bhatkal would be brought to Motihari from Raxaul under tight security before being taken to Delhi.

According to a senior officer at the Police Headquarters here, the entire operation to arrest Bhatkal was kept a close secret till the last moment.

"A few selected police officers were aware of the special operation to arrest Bhatkal," the officer said.

An additional director general of police rank officer told IANS on condition of anonymity that even after Bhatkal was arrested, only few top officers were informed and they were also not told about where he was kept for interrogation.

"It was a very sensitive case, so information was not shared with others except those involved in this operation," he said.

The state government has sounded an alert across Bihar, particularly in the border districts following Bhatkal's arrest.

"We have alerted district police officials and asked them to keep a close watch...," an official of the state home department said.

Indian Mujahideen chief Yasin Bhatkal arrested : Reports

New Delhi, Aug 29 (NDTV) : One of India's most-wanted men, Yasin Bhatkal, head of the terror group Indian Mujahideen, has reportedly been arrested near the border with Nepal.

He was reportedly arrested in a joint operation of the Delhi and Karnataka police.

The National Investigating Agency or NIA believes that in 2010, Bhatkal planted the bomb that exploded at the German Bakery in Pune, killing 17 people.

The Indian Mujahideen is sponsored and patronized by Pakistan's Lashkar-e-Taiba, according to intelligence agencies.

The group is responsible, intelligence agencies have said, for a long list of terror attacks in recent years in cities including Bangalore and Hyderabad.

Bhatkal, who is 30, belongs to Karnataka.  He co-founded the Mujahideen in 2008 with brother Riaz and Abdul Subhan Qureshi.

He is the main accused in the blast outside a stadium in Bangalore in 2010 during a cricket match.

Great catch! Still lots of our terrorists are royally sheltered by Pakis who always talk about peace. Jab geedar ki maut aati hai, to woh shahar ki taraf bhagtaa hai. It’s possible that he felt like eating Indian biriyani. I remember sometime back reading an interview by DW with his mother, who was claiming that her son has never killed even a rat and that it was a conspiracy to tarnish him and their town, Bhatkal. She will come to know soon that terrorists don’t need experience in killing rats before they kill innocents. She also may not have heard the image of Bhatkal but many of us have heard what is Bhatkal, what and what not is going on there.
Now that Police have caught two of the most wanted terrorists, it should be seen that they are dealt with quickly and the government should set up fast-track courts for their trial. We don’t want to see these anti-nationals enjoying our hospitality in jail at the cost of tax-payers. Now there will be lots of “kanoon ke dalal” come forward to protect them. I would not be surprised if we hear from some political corner defending these antis saying they are innocent, just to garner votes from some section of the society.

Does every political party join in to protect or to make more problems by creating unrest\creating grounds for communal unrest and many such destabilising acts.
They should be ashamed to do all these things when unity is required to fend off enemies who are trying to probe inside Indian territory.
First an foremost Political parties should be very very responsible towards the nation but we see some of the very well known parties are only after POWER at the center by hook or crook.
But they are the first one to claim a bigger share of the pie when something good is done by UPA!!!

It is also a 'hot bed' of hawala, smuggling and other illegal activities. It has brought bad name for general public in general and Muslims in particular.
Despite of big claims very few minorities opt for Indian army, instead either work in gulf countries. My kind request for all those minority youths to consider joining Indian army and serve mother land than going to gulf and earn bit of money and talk big things about Indian army or economy!!Because 'barking dog' seldom bite!!

In return we would like to invite you to join our PMO team so that we can make several letter communications between PM and Madam Offices though they are sitting next to each other most of the time but PM is not allowed to talk to her in front of others. Your message is clean and clear to everyone in our PM Office but we believe our opposition would spoil the game plan before we prove Yasin as an innocent Director of NGO called Indian Mujahedeen

For past several years Bhatkal became so famous that, even people hesitate to take their birth place if they are from Bhatkal due to these coward brothers. We have to congratulate Delhi and Karnataka Police for their prize catch. But I am sure few Mujahedeen likely minded Political Leaders might have lobbied at Delhi or Bangalore to prove him innocent and free him soon so that he can fight next election in their Party ticket
