BANGALORE, Feb 11: They are young, crazy, wild and hot. They had a unique 'rock' platform at the Bangalore Times U Rock college festival on Saturday where they set the stage on fire.

Organised for the third consecutive year as part of the Times of Youth Festival 2006 in Mumbai and Delhi along with Bangalore, the festival, held at St Joseph's Indian High School Grounds, had 20 bands under the Indipop and western music categories.

'Fahrenheit', the five-member band from St Joseph's Indian College of Commerce , rocked to the top amid competition from 11 other bands in the Western music category.

A difficult task to impress Dr Thomas Chandy and Ashley Williams - the judges for western music segment - Fahrenheit was thrilled by the judgment.

"We were optimistic though we were not sure of winning,"said Jason Periera, group's bass guitarist. Winning the competition despite technical failures in the preliminary round as well as the final round was more than a sheer luck for this band.

As musicians with smart minds, the band knows that hard work apart, result matters. While in the prelims they were not bogged down despite a power failure, a technical loophole in the keyboard was covered up smartly as they rocked in the finals.

The winners of the Indipop category was 'Chiguru' from Surana College and the solo singer of the band award went to Supriya R of Dhoom from Christ College.

At the end of the show, Aryans, the guest band player, played popular numbers along with hits of Pink Floyd and Bryan Adams which was largely applauded by the youth gathered in huge numbers.
