Mangalore, Aug 30: In an operation carried out by the customs officials at Bajpe international airport, items which included 173 grams gold, cigarettes and Ghutka were seized from two passengers on Thursday August 29.
The total worth of the seized valuables is said to be Rs 4,23,850.
On receiving authentic information, Abdul Rehman Kunhi who arrived from Dubai was stopped by customs officials. During the operation they found 20 gold chains weighing 173 grams in an extension cord box, which was seized.
Another passenger from Dubai name Rehaman had 50 cigarette cartons and 5,000 sachets of RMD Ghutka. The seized cigarette packets did not have any health warning and both the items are said to be illegal.
Both the above operations were carried under the guidance of customs commissioner D Purushottam and CSP V Srinivas. CSP Superintendent Egbert Pereira, inspector Rakesh Kumar, Ajay Ayappa, G V Chalapathi, constable M V Heeramata were part of the investigation.

Normally people take out ghutka from India and this bugger bringing in Ghutka! Why? He is crazy?
May be it is not ghutka, in side sachet some thing different will be there! Who knows?
