Mangalore, Feb 12: AJ Hospital and Research Centre, Kuntikan will organise a free camp for knee replacement and arthroscopy from February 23 to March 4. The camp will be organized in association with the Lions Club Kankanady-Padil, Vijay Karnataka Kannada Daily and Boxer Sports Goods Company, Cochin.

Speaking to media persons here at the Press Club on Saturday, hospital medical director Dr Prashanth Marla said the camp would be held at the hospital premises by renowned Arthroscopy surgeons.

Head of the department of sports medicine Dr Sudarshan Bhandary will lead the team of doctors at the camp which is conducted primarily for detecting and treating some of the common ailments and injuries of the knee joint like arthritis and ligament injuries.
Anybody with a knee problem can attend this camp and avail free consultation and treatment, Dr Marla added.

Those suffering from knee arthritis, knee ligament injuries/sports-related injuries or any other knee-related problems must bring previous prescriptions or details of previous treatment, he said.

The cost of knee replacement operation in a private hospital is around Rs 1.2 lac to Rs 1.5 lac. He also added that for patients registering at the camp, the surgery will be conducted at significantly less cost and arthroscopy will be done free of cost.

Apart from this consultation, x-ray and arthroscopy will be done free of cost. MRI, Knee replacement, ACL reconstruction and other knee-related surgeries will be done at highly discounted rates.
