Mangalore, Feb 12: The Jeppu seminary hall was bustling with energy coupled with joy and playfulness on Sunday. The Children's Fest – 2006 gathered over 1200 children under one roof to play, participate and have fun.
The annual programme was organized by Prajna Counselling Centre, in association with the Social Ministry Association of St Joseph's Seminary, Jeppu.
Infosys REU Unit head Narendran Koduvattat inaugurated the one –day event. He called all the children to make the best use of the opportunities given to them and to grow as joyful children.
Children surrounded Deputy commissioner H V Parshwanath who visited the venue at noon. The overwhelmed DC spoke on the joys of childhood. Lauding the institutes, which organized a day of fun and frolic for the children, the DC said that restoring childhood is the biggest task of the society.
St Joseph's seminary rector Fr Victor Machado, Fr Joseph Martis and director Prajna Counselling Centre Prof Hilda Rayappan were present on the dais.
Hindustan Lever Ltd HR manager R G Bhat and Hotel Taj Manjarun HR manager Nateshan were the guests on the occasion.
Over 1200 children from a total of 33 institutions including the Children’s Home Bondel participated in the programme.
