Udupi: DVS, Eshwarappa visit areca plantations, demand relief package from govt

Udupi, Aug 31: The Congress government which came to power by garnering votes of farmers is in the process of introducing schemes and projects in a bid to boost its own popularity among people, said former chief minister and BJP leader D V Sadananda Gowda.

He was speaking to reporters during his visit to the areca plantations of Bittu Poojary at Mudrangady-Pilar and of Kusha Shetty at Nyarma, Shirva here on Friday August 30. He visited the plantations to inspect the loss caused due to fungal disease prevailing among areca plantations.

"The state government is still under the hangover of coming to power. The government must wake up from its slumber and pay attention to the problems faced by areca growers by visiting their plantations. A report giving the correct picture of the problems must be obtained from officials and a relief package should be announced for the areca growers at the earliest. Also, measures should be taken to encourage farmers to grow other crops as well," he urged.

Former deputy chief minister K S Eshwarappa said that ever since Congress came to power in the state, CM Siddaramaiah has been busy in pleasing the voters and the Congress party high command by making frequent trips to Delhi.

"Come to the areca plantations to learn and study about the problems faced by the areca growers. Come forward to announce a suitable package for them and save your face," said Eshwarappa, addressing Siddaramaiah through the media.

"We have tried to make the government aware of the problems and losses faced by the areca growers through the media. The government must announce a special package for areca growers by September 5. If not, we will descend on streets and start a movenment against the government," he warned.

Former minster Kota Srinivas Poojary, former MLA Lalaji R Mendon, Nagaraj Shetty, BJP district president Udayakumar Shetty, Kaup block president K Suresh Nayak, BJP leaders Somashekar Bhat, Sulochana Bhat, Muttaru Ratnakar Hegde, Ravindra Shetty Kollabettu, Kuthar Naveen Shetty, Giridhar Prabhu and others were present.

May be that is why DVS and Esh are seen together?
DVS can teach yakshagana to Esh. DVS is a known artist in that and can become bedfellows.

As per my Knowledge this is completely Wrong.I know very well Nyarma Kusha shetty areca plantation is No disease, He did not provide enough water for plantation from 4 to 5 years even he did not look even that side also.. because he is very busy with chicken farm, better than plantation he have good income in chicken Farm he already make good money also.He don't have time to spend for this plantation.
I want to suggest that, Kusha Shetty and his followers before they act need to think first. this BJP leaders they could not find a better place than the one they visited for a picnic.!!!!

From what I heard from my close friends from Kundapur/Bantwal area say that areca is very highly profitable and chances of making any losses are negligible that is why majority of cultivable land has been changed over to areca, and I have seen exclusive areca growers flourishing financially and doing very well!! Fail to understand on what basis they want amounts of 50k and above for each acre, that will be an added bonus indeed!!

Mr. Jeevan had aired here 10 lac compensation for each areca NUT farmer.
He should have done that when BJP Govt. was in power not when they became defunct.

The matter was taken up by our able CM sometime back during the time he banned gutka and there is no need for these resort politicians to remind him of his duties.
Looks to me they had gone for a picnic there as they have all the time in the world now to enjoy their ill-gotten wealth and also that now they have nothing else to do anywhere and no one is inviting also.
Poking nose here and there unnecessarily.

When they have power, they were very busy with watching movie, dating, arranging rave party and building multistory buildings etc. Too much assignments. After all, they were in power for only few hours comparing to congress power. So, they were confused what to do and what not do. In between this confusion, they forget their duty and wasted their time blaming opposition party for petty issues like drainage, bus late, train late block etc.

    Dear Readers,

    Don't be miss understood.
They are not making noise on behalf of public interest. They are making noise for their benefit, b'coz they have plenty areca plantation. So, they want special package.
Now, your question is: what they did, when they have power? They did a lot, but you were not aware all those. Only the thing is, they did a lot for them selves - not for you , not for the public.

Areca farmers made DVS & Eshwarappa to visit their farm by not voting them this time. The main reason is when DVs was CM, the same farmers were asked to file application for compensation due to crop loss, and all of them spent about Rs300 for filing the application, getting RTC, taking photo copy etc.. by spending their 1 or 2 full day standing in long queue, and finally got not even single penny...They are now teaching a lesson. Even for Siddu, if he is not reacting to farmers problem, same will be expected. Well done democracy..!!

Where were D.V.Sadananda Gowda and Eshwarappa when they were in power? Why these crocodile tears now? Because the Lok Sabha election is coming soon?
Support CM Siddharamayya's good works instead of criticising him.
Siddaramayya is people's CM. He is the best CM after Devraj Urs.BJP can not win more than 4 seats in Lok Sabha Election. People of Karnaka have experienced their governance.

    Eshwarappa,

As predicted by me much earlier than assembly election,,, you are one of the main person responsible for defeat of BJP in Karnataka next only to Yeddy...Yeddy has atleast some capacity to get himself elected to the assembly with 5 others and getting 10% of total votes cast....you could not retain your own seat as predicted by everybody in this forum...

We knew all along your foul mouth will not only defeat yourself but atleast dozen more other BJP candidates.

But you exceeded our expectations by Lokayukta finding currency counting machines in your house....it speaks for itself,,, what else is needed for people to defeat you and your party Sir???

Now in next assembly elections use Currency counting maching as your election symbol...may be you can avoid one more defeat...

What you know abour areca other than eating it(pan) and screwing up your teeth?

Agreed with what you said except
"S Gowda seems to me a good man in the wrong party, now accompanied by wrong people"

He cannot be a good man when he is always in wrong parties and always accompanies wrong people and he forever learns wrong things and never tries to correct himself...That is DVS to you.
