Mangalore, Aug 31: Pratapsimha Nayak on Saturday August 31 took charge as the new district BJP president during a programme held at C V Nayak hall here.

Outgoing president Padmanabh Kottary formally handed over the charge by presenting the party record book and party shawl to Pratapsimha Nayak.

Former chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda, former minister Suresh Kumar, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLC Monappa Bhandary, MLA S Angara, former MLA Yogish Bhat, Krishna Palemar, Sulochana G K Bhat among others shared the dais.

D V Sadananda Gowda in his adress said, "Pratapsimha Nayak's selection will open a new chapter in Dakshina Kannada. BJP has contributed a lot to the state and in the last assembly election, we got unexpected results. Our defeat is a temporary one and we will bounce back to power soon.

"Our defeat was an alarm bell given by the people as we were embroiled in internal conflicts," he added. He also accused Congress of leaving aside policies implemented by the BJP government.

Nalin Kumar in his address said, "The last time Pratapsimha Nayak was the district president, BJP had won in 7 constituencies and I feel under his baton, we will be back to power in this area."

He added, "After Congress came to power in state, people came to know that we are better. Congress is responsible for terrorist activities in the state. It is after the Congress came to power that cow slaughter incidents began increasing. Congress-led governments at the center and the state failed in their administration."

Following are the new BJP presidents elected in the 8 constituencies:

Beltangady – Balakrishna V Shetty

Moodbidri – K P Sucharith Shetty

Mangalore North – Ramesh S

Mangalore South – Ravishankar Mijar

Mangalore (Ullal) – Chandrashekar Ucchil

Bantwal – G Ananda

Puttur – Apayya Maniyani

Sullia – Harish Kanjipili

    Hello Santhosh Riyadh

Listen Yeddy got the votes becuase of lingayath vote bank not because of his karma. If so why BJP lost heavily in Mangalore then, when it was a den for BJP for last many years?

    Hello Prakash

The reasons for costal belt debacle is very clear, Infighting in the BJP and faling to live up to the peoples expectations when given a chance. Also the church attacks and attacks on Girls led to the defeat of the BJP, no doubt about it, and I personally condemn both the acts. Acts by some hooligans and failure to act against them was a big mistake. As a Mangalorean I was ashamed when it happened in city.

When I speak of Yeddy, I speak of the whole state and not Mangalore or costal dstricts only. Yeddy could have made the diffrence in the number of seats BJP would have got if he was with them, not in the costal belt but in Northern and Eastern Karnataka belt. Instead of fighting against each other, if they fought with each other they would have got 20- 25 seats more for sure. What I am trying to say is that BJP acted against corruption by kicking out Yeddy and yet suffered a defeat. They knew very well that they will loose a huge chunk of Lingayat Vote Bank, yet they did it without bothering about votebank politics or caste appeasement. Then they tried to give good governence through Sadanand Gowda and Shettar, but by then it was too late I guess. The corruption and nepotism charges of Yeddy was the main reason why BJP Lost in Karnataka.

This gasing party bjp will bite the dust because of the curses of the people. Did they not attack the churches, ice-cream parlors, pubs, home stay.People will vote for congress even if they are useless but never BJP. I met the nun who lost her eyes due to attack on the church there were tears in my eyes.

Men may come and Men may go.
The congress is there for ever by the grace of Indian citizens.
    CONGRESS HAS GRACE.
    COMMUNAL ONLY BJP SAYS.
    BJP’S KAMALA FALLS WITHOUT RAYS.
CONGRESS WILL WIN A GRACEFUL RACE.
HOW THE SUPPORTERS OF BJP WILL BRACE
    SIMPLE GOVERNANCE IS CONGRES’S WAYS.
BJP’S TRICKS WILL FAIL CONGRESS TO CHASE.
CONGRESS IS EVERYBODIES VOICE AND CHOICE.
ALL ARE EAGER TO JOIN CONGRESS TO EMBRACE.
IN FAVOR OF CONGRESS ARE ALL THE TIDAL WAVES.
BJP HEADED BY NDA WILL WASHOUT FROM CONGRESS FACE.

In Karnataka bjp has even lost the opposition seat pushing them to third place.

Hope in the central congress with grace of Indian citizens will once again come in majority without Lallu-Mullu, damka-trimla and without maayu-cippam.

Karnatak bjp has bitten the dust.

    Dear Zaid,

No one likes to work for any other country. Unfortunatley for my profession there is not much of a scope in India, and that is the only reason that I am in this alien country missing my mother , grandmother, friends, family and all my happiness. You may think that what is this guy commenting sitting in Riyadh. Well see the plight of the workers here and you will understand the ground relalities. You think people come here and slog for 800 -1000 Riayals because they love it?? they have no choice back home and thats why they come abroad and seek a job and to make some money. If you find me one job that pays me the same money ( or even 25 % ) that I get paid here, I will resign and come back to India ASAP. Untill that time please dont say that by staying abroad I dont contribute to the growth of the Country. Thanks

    Dear Readers

To all the people who said congress had a huge majority in the last elections and the BJP was routed, let me give you a insight into the vote percentage party wise. Congress party polled 36 % of the votes, BJP 24 % and KJP polled 10 % of the total state votes. So stop this nonsense that congress won with large margin. BJP lost beacuse of internal fights, because of the corruption charges of Yeddy. BJP never thought about Voggaliga/ Kuruba/ Lingayat. They knew that throwing out Yeddy will mean a big dent in its vote. But they did it and lost the elections. If you add BJP KJP percentage of votes it comes to 35 %. Just a percent less than congress. One more point to be noted is that even if Yeddy was corrupt, people of the state gave him around 10 % of the total votes polled, which is a huge number. I am not defending Yeddy. But one has to admit his personal charisma.

    Dear Joslyn

I call that introspection. BJP atleast believes it did a mistake, and has taken action by throwing Yeddy out of the party. Consider congress in the center. It does not want to even admit that the current economic crisis is because of their own mess. That's the difference between 2 parties. That is democracy.

    Hi Preetham

You are right that that Yeddy moved out, but thats because the party was firm in its decision not to make Yeddy C.M again, niether give him any post. Atleast BJP has some morals and have Stuck to thier decision, and not worried about loosing power. They did the right thing. Now tell me any congress minister that have been sacked by the party after so many scams???

That's for the congress to fight. Will they give the Finance minister post to BJP?? If they do, then BJP has able leaders to tackle the economic situation of the Country. Don't forget that the end of NDA our CAD was only 2.5 % of GDP and now it is almost 6.5 %. Add to that the rate of growth for the last quarter was only 4 %. Horaha hai Bharath Nirmaan.
