Kasagod, Aug 31: A group of miscreants is said to have attacked an Ashram of a sorcerer and destroyed it. The ashram is named Ashurakarmi Mantrika Sannidhi run by Ramachandra.

Two vehicles were damaged in the incident. Ashram worker Vijay (30) was assaulted and injured.

Rs 14 lac and 28 sovereigns of gold were taken away, states the complaint lodged by Ramachandra to the police.  A case has been registered against several people. More than fifty people were said to have been part of the attack.

The attack was allegedly carried out in retaliation for a speech relating to community and religion by Ramachandra at Hosangady.  Ramachandra was not in the Ashram during the attack.

Kumble police station inspector C B Thomas and Manjeshwar inspector Bijulal arrived at the spot. The place is now guarded by the police.

India needs at least another 100 years to improve. Even education could do nothing on this front. Highly educated people are going after uneducated non sense Babas. Why do not they think that a person born as an ordinary human being can not have divine power. So long as there are people to be fooled, fooling people will there to exploit them.

Huge money and gold cannot be stored in any place of worship. If it is a donation it must be accounted properly. This attack on Ashram is enlightenment to general public.

Without knowing who is he how can you say he is a cheat? He is not proclaiming to be a saint. He is in the business of religion and makes money out of it. Try him for income tax evasion, arrest him for hate speeches, but you don't have right to blame him without knowing what his crime was.

Rs.14L in cash in one man ashram and 28 S\gold!!!

May be some unaccounted party funds going through its usual channels - Swamis, Bapus, Ashrams. Easy to hand over money to recipients with out any suspicion.
BJP CM \ ministers used to visit these places so often...
It is my guess only - all that money that was\is to be paid for buying of Ministers\MLAs and others is most probably channeled through these intermediaries.
