Bangalore: State govt acts to stop porno watching on official computers

Bangalore, Aug 31 (PTI): Rattled by a reported CBI dossier about state secretariat employees' prurient interest in watching pornography on official computers during office hours, Karnataka government has decided to install software to block such sites.

"It has come to the government's notice. We have taken a serious view of the matter," state IT and BT Minister S R Patil told reporters, days after CBI found that the internet protocol with kar.nic.in was extensively used by employees to view pornography, particularly in the state secretariat.

CBI, according to reports, had stumbled upon the employees' preoccupation with watching pornography while monitoring the internet activities in government offices during anti-terror surveillance and sent a report to the state Criminal Investigation Department.

Patil said 'firewall' would be installed and other "technical steps" taken to block all such unwanted sites. "This will start from Vidhana Soudha and state secretariat offices here...," he said, adding, action would be taken against erring employees.

He said he was pained to read reports about employees watching pornography during office hours while they had taken the pledge that 'government work is God's work', words that are inscribed at the portal of Vidhana Soudha.

With instant and unrestricted access to HARD CORE porn, it has become the no. 1 pastime right from impressionable students, uneducated urchins, loafers to senior citizens from decent homes, which is the primary cause for the sudden surge in testosterone and resultant carnal urge ending in spontaneous rapes, molestations etc. Unless this satan is not curbed, there will be no respite from the malaise and its use will only increase creating more and more perverts and sex maniacs in those who cannot control their carnal urges!!

    Its not only FIREWALL.
This how much dedicated we are in serving the nation?
what calibre -type of people we ?
what is their attitude -mind set.
If these politicians think they are high and mighty and between the 4 walls of the house -they watch porno- what kind of work they will render for progress of the country?
who is responsible -we the people are?
    you and me ?
    no one else.
we are a democratic nation and a democratic society, yes, but there are limits-laws -ethics -morals -standards -scruples.
    what is going on?
    where is our nation heading?
what is the future for young indians and the direction for future generations?
do these members of parliament - house have any agenda- work schedule -programme-goals ?
In fact the people should give on line feed back of every minister - MLA/MLC from the area about his conduct-character- work ethics - dedication -progress -mindset-quality-purity-professionalism-leadership -ability in discharging his duties -should all be on line so that one can evaluate his performance or demotion as per his work ONLY
    pure merit.
since WE THE PEOPLE are responsible -they are merely servants -of the govt meaning the nation and its sovereign people.
Time has come for total shake up-introspection -accountability- transparency-
    who checks their work ?

Those mobiles supplied by Government for official work should not\cannot be used for porn watching or any crime related work as they are termed as public property.
If it is privately owned and as long as it is used for private viewing only no problem at all I guess.
Any transmission from one's mobile to another of such material is not allowed\against the law.
For more information you may ask Police\home\IT BT ministry about it.

In the shorter term, the govt officials will suffer from lack of motivation to be punctual and be at their seat most of the times. Porn at least kept them glued to the seat. With or without porn, I wonder what it will take for our govt officials to honestly an sincerely deliver the task they have taken for life viz., serve the citizens.

This is the difference between Congress and BJP.BJP would have tooth and nail denied and defended it where as congress has taken action to remove it from the root. Such was the arrogance of BJP that they had started thinking they are going to rule the state for ever. Remember our own ever smiling(for no reason) DVS when he defended porn watching blue boys in Vidhana Soudha assembly session.

Good\quick action by Govt. to stop porn watching by govt. employees in Govt. offices especially in VS.
It was allowed (no one to monitor) by the earlier Govt. and when, by chance found out, no action initiated against ministers and others.
Henceforth no one should go scot free if they use Govt. equipment to watch porn in public places.
