Kuwait, Sep 3: Tulu Koota Kuwait has announced the start of the annual Tulu Parba (World Tulu Convention) competitions and invited interested candidates to participate in the competitions to be held on Friday September 27, from 10 am to 5pm at the Indian Community School Auditorium, Khaitan.

The members have invited all to join in the enthusiastic and amusing day planned out by the members with lots of fun and creativity. Competitions are chalked out for various age groups include: Online photo contest for age group 0-2 years, Little Star Contest age group 2-4 years; Tulunadu Kula Kasabu depicting rural occupation of Tulunadu age group 4-6 years, coloring, drawing, memory game, solo dance and group dance competitions.

Adults can also enjoy by competing in fun-filled competitions like sweet potato eating, idli eating contest, preparation of puffed rice delicacies –‘Bajil’- Tulunadu Tindi; and group fancy dress while the couples can compete to win the title “Apoorpa da Jodi”.

On the occasion of Tulu World Convention planned by Tulu Koota Kuwait on October 17 and October 18, this year a few competitions are open to all people of Karnataka origin. These competitions are: Mask making for age group 12 and above and group dance for teenagers aged 12 to 19.

TKK also invites all the associations of Karnataka origin to take part in the group dance for age group above 19 theme folks of Karnataka. The winners of the 'Biggest Loser' weight loss competition will also be announced on Tulu Parba competition day.

RULES FOR TULU PARBA COMPETITIONS 2013

Competitions open to Tulu Koota Kuwait members:

Facebook Photo Contest: ‘My Baby My Beautiful World”

Age group 0-2 years as on September 27, 2013

This category is open to all participants age group 0-2 years
Contest will be online on Tulukoota face book page
Number of likes will decide the winner
Voting starts with loading of first photo on September 5, 2013
One child one photo will be allowed
Photos for participating child should be emailed to: tuluparba@gmail.com
Like Tulukoota Kuwait facebook page; and share it with your friends to earn maximum likes for your kid
Winners will be announced based on likes received until : 12:00 am September 26, 2013
Valid Tulukoota Kuwait membership of the parent is a must for participation
 


Little Star Contest:

Age group Above 2- 4 years – as on September 27, 2013

This category is open to all participants age from: Above 2 to 4 years
Time limit : 2 minutes
Parents are not allowed on the stage
Participants must dress to portray (fairy tale prince/princess Indian /Western outfit allowed)
Child is free to showcase any of his talent (dance, nursery rhymes, sing, talk anything the child feels happy and is comfortable to do)
Music piece if any to be played should be emailed to : tuluparba@gmail.com; along with participant name membership number or be submitted on an USB atleast 3 days prior to the competition
Child will be judged on his confidence, interaction with audience, dress, talent and presence on stage
Valid Tulukoota Kuwait membership of parent is a must for participation
 

Tulunadu Kula Kasabu:

Age group Above 4 -6 Years- as on September 27, 2013

This category is open to all participants age from : Above 4- 6 years
Time limit: 2 minutes
Parents are not allowed on stage
Participants must dress to portray Tulunadu traditional/rural occupations
White collared jobs are excluded from this competition
One minute intro in Tulu(Who am I- meaning occupation being portrayed, role in society, how has modernization affected this occupation good/bad)
Participant will be judged by the impact left on audience with the occupation portrayed, dressing, speech, creativity, props and overall presentation
External audio/music piece/prompting is not allowed
Valid Tulukoota Kuwait Membership of parent is must for participation
 

Coloring Competition

Age group Above 4 -6 Years- as on 27th September 2013

This category is open to all participants age from : Above 4-6 years
Time limit : 30 minutes
Children will be provided with simple to complex picture for coloring depending on the age
Coloring paper is being provided by Tulukoota Kuwait
Material will be brought by the participants ( pencils, eraser, writing pad, color pencils)
Water color is not allowed
Judging is based on neatness and color relevance
Valid Tulukoota Kuwait membership of the parent is a must for participation
 

Solo Dance

Age group : Above 6-9 Years as on September 27, 2013

This category is open to Male & Female for the above age groups

Time limit : 3 minutes
Participants can perform on any song (any languages)
Participants performing on Tulu songs will be given bonus marks
Only participant is allowed entry to back stage 30 minutes before performance
Song to be provided in advance at the time of registration by email to : tuluparba@gmail.com or by USB at atleast 3 days prior to the competition.
Only the performing song will be saved in the USB for easy coordination by Operations crew during competition
Valid Tulukoota Kuwait membership of parent is must for participation
 

Drawing Competition

Age group Above 6 -9 Years- as on September 27, 2013

This category is open to all participants age from : Above 6-9 years
Time limit : 40 minutes
Topic : Tulunadu village scenery
Coloring paper is being provided by Tulukoota Kuwait
Material will be brought by the participants ( pencils, eraser, writing pad, color pencils)
Valid Tulukoota Kuwait membership of the parent is a must for participation
 

Group Dance

Age group – Above 9-12 Years As on September 27, 2013

This category is open to Male & Female participants for the above age groups
Time limit : 3 minutes
Participants can perform on any song (any languages)
Participants performing on Tulu songs will be given bonus marks
Maximum number of participants allowed in each group : 8
Minimum number of participants allowed to perform in a group: 3
Only participant will be allowed entry to back stage 30 minutes before the performance
Song to be provided in advance at time of registration by email to : tuluparba@gmail.com ; or by USB atleast 3 days prior to competions
Only performing song will be saved in USB for easy coordination by Operations Crew during competition
Valid Tulukoota Kuwait membership of parent is must for participation
Repetition of songs is not promoted ; hence participant might be advised to make a different choice in case any song is repeating more than 2 times in the program


Group Fancy Dress

Age group: Open to all

This category is open to male & female participants of all age group including kids
Time limit: 2 minutes
External audio music can be played
External prompting will not be allowed
Maximum number of participants in each group: 8
Minimum number of participants in each group:3
Only participants will be allowed to enter backstage 30 minutes prior to the competition
Valid Tulukoota Kuwait membership is a must for participation
 

Idli Eating : (Women)

(Age group above 18 years)- as on 27th Sept 2013

This category is open to Female – above 18 years
Time limit : 2 minutes
Idlis will be sold out at Tulukoota Kuwait counter
Winners will be identified based on (Quantity eaten without wastage)
Valid Tulukoota Kuwait membership is a must for participation
 

Sweet Potato Eating : (Men)

(Age group above 18 years)- as on 27th Sept 2013

This category is open to Male – above 18 years
Time limit : 3 minutes
Boiled sweet potato 1kg packet will be sold at Tulukoota Kuwait counter
Winners will be identified based on (Quantity eaten without wastage)
Valid Tulukoota Kuwait membership is a must for participation
 


Bajil d Tuluvere Tindi: (Mixed group – Men /Women)

Main ingredient : Puffed rice (Bajil)
Time limit : 40 minutes
Any sweet/sour/spicy dish variety that can be prepared with puffed rice
Participants can bring along fried, roasted, boiled/parboiled/ground/powdered items or any add ons to be mixed along with the dish or for garnishing
No fire/gas stove will be used on venue for cooking
All necessary ingredients will be brought by participants
Dish will be prepared at the venue
Judging will be on taste, flavor, uniqueness of dish, ingredients used, and the participant should be able to explain the making of the dish or any questions relevant to it
Valid Tulukoota Kuwait membership important for participation
 

Couples

Apoorpa da Jodi:

Valid Tulukoota Kuwait membership is a must for registration
Participants are required to dress portraying various styles of Tulunadu
Display of any talent of their choice – active participation by both (2 minutes)
Judging is based on entry, confidence, pose, perfectness of attire, costume, accessories, props, talent, spontaneity on stage.
 

Group Dance

Age Group: Above 12-19 years as on 27th September 2013

Open to all TKK members & non-members
All participants in the group should be of Karnataka origin residing in Kuwait
Competition is open for age group above 12 to 19 and age will be calculated as on 27.09.2013
Number of participants : Minimum is 3 and maximum is 8
Time allotted is 3 minutes on the stage
Performance on Tulu Song will carry bonus points
Song should be provided in advance at the time of registration through USB or by email – tuluparba@gmail.com.
Repetition of songs is not preferred; hence participant will be advised to make a different choice of song in case it is observed that any song is being repeated in the program over 2 times.
Judges decisions are final
Registration form is mandatory & should be duly filled and submitted before the last date- 20th September 2013.
Any false / misleading information provided in registration may result to disqualifying/cancellation of the group participation
 

Mask Making :

Open to all TKK members & non-members
All participants should be natives of Karnataka origin, residing in Kuwait
Competition is open for all participants age above 12 years and will be calculated as on 27.09.2013
Time allotted : 90 minutes
Theme is based on Tulunadu culture like: Yakshagana,Kola,Bhoota; Pili etc
Tracing of image is not allowed
Colouring, Painting, Craft work, drawing allowed
A small write up on the character of mask should be brought along by the participant for display.
All required materials should be carried by the participants
No readymade printouts should be used to stick over the mask.
 


Group Dance (Only for Associations of Karnataka)

Age Group : Above 19

Theme: Folk

Rules & Regulations :

Open to all associations from Karnataka in Kuwait
Each participant should be a valid member of the association
Registrations for the competition will be handled through Association Gen Secretary
Competition is open for age group 19 & above and age will be calculated as on 27.09.2013
Each association can register only one group
Number of participants : Minimum is 3 and maximum is 8
Song should be provided in advance at the time of registration through USB or email (tuluparba@gmail.com)
Performance should be theme based – only on folk songs of Karnataka
Judges decision are final
Registration form should be duly filled and submitted before the last date.
Last date for registration of associations is : 15th September 2013
