Udupi: Brahmavar boy develops vehicle with pocket money

Udupi, Sep 6: When most teenagers and young adults these days pester their parents for a bike or a car, a boy in Brahmavar has successfully developed a 'car' on his own with the pocket money given by his father.

Sharath Naik, a second PUC science student at SMS PU College of Brahmavar, has fitted the vehicle with two tyres in the front and one at the back.  The vehicle gives a mileage of thirty kilometers.

He has named the vehicle ‘Trio’.

Speaking to reporters, Sharath said he has a passion for science and is keenly interested in developing models. Altogether, the experiment cost him Rs 10,000, saved from his pocket money bit by bit.

He has used Chetak scooter’s 100 cc engine, tyres of Scooty, a small metal sheet and some other items from a scrap shop.  He desires that such vehicles should be used by soldiers.  "As the soldiers have to carry lot of luggage, I want to do some changes in the vehicle according to their requirement," he said. It is a different matter whether soldiers will use his vehicle but his concern for them is praiseworthy.

His experiment has been appreciated by all, especially by his parents who were sceptical at first but are now beaming with pride seeing their son use his pocket money for a creative purpose. "We wish that the vehicle may come to the market and be useful for everybody," they said.

    Dear Sharath

good work, all the best for your future,
you can make some more modification to get more fuel mileage to this model. mainly you should make the front side panel more aerodynamic. even with the good grip tyres you can get more mileage.

Appreciate all the comments appreciating the young talent.

Irony is that we all appreciate new innovations where it doesn't effect us directly. i wonder how come Renault Duster and ford Ecosport could affect the sales of Mahindra Scorpio, though Scorpio has got much better features except an international brand image. Why not we prefer buying Tata and Mahindra instead of foreign brands? Mahindra and Tata spend a lot on students and budding talents through their various programmes.

I dont think most of the commentators (Including Me) have opted for Indian cars!

Every student must do something good work as a single or team. Instead going on procession or encouraging ragging of co-student.
    All the best..............

    Good luck sharad..
Need of the hour is to develop such a system in which an alternative is used instead of fuel. Because our economy mainly based on fuel import. So my suggestion to the younger generation to make researches on vehicles run other than by fuel to end big fuel demand and pollution free environment.

We need a special cell in the HRD Ministry to recognise these budding talents and guide/ Encourage thier efforts. One Day these very students will be established enterprenures in US or in Austrialia if our Govt. do not recognise them at early stage. Then we call it Brain Drain.

Wilfred, good thought. But we still have reservations based on caste , religion etc which is making the real talents to find better places elsewhere. Both of them (reservations based only on birth background and talent search) can not go together.

R P N Mangalore. Thank you for your comments As I mentioned "Special Cell" in HRD which can take only special cases barring all the "Reservations". But we all know it is easier said than done.
