Doha: MLA J R Lobo to grace MCC event on Sep 13

Doha, Sep 9: J R Lobo, MLA of Mangalore South Constituency will be the chief guest for an event to be hosted by Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC) on Friday September 13 to mark Monthi Fest.

MCC will be celebrating the Feast of Nativity at 5.30 pm at the Al Ghazal Club on September 13. The highlight of the evening will be the sharing of the blessed corn and partaking in the home-cooked meal, as a family. There will also be a cultural programme showcasing the exceptional talents of MCC members and promoting the culture and traditions of native land and mother tongue Konkani.

Stany Alvares, president of Mandd Sobhann and Fr Anand Castelino, OFM, the spiritual director of Qatar Konkani Speaking community will be the guests of honour on the occasion.

In addition, MCC will also be felicitating Mangalorean doctors serving in Qatar in various hospitals, the students who have excelled in academics and sports in 2012-2013 and winners of talent competitions.

Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC), the premier forum that unites Mangaloreans living in the oil-rich country of Qatar has also been in the forefront of preserving and nourishing culture. It is with this motto and with the intention of enhancing fraternal bonds among the Mangaloreans, MCC has been celebrating feast of Nativity every year with the sharing of new corns, the first fruits of the nature through annual Novem Jevann. But what makes this Novem Jevann special is that MCC members and well-wishers come together and prepare food for over 600 people. MCC's Novem Jevann is today very much part and parcel of annual calendar of every Mangalorean in Qatar.

    Qatar is a success story in the gulf. It is well-developed, forward moving nation. Embraced good traditions from all over the world. Created lots of opportunities for people from India n world over. People have freedom to carry out their daily work without any problem. Qatar is set to host World Cup Football, which shows its recognition in the world. A small country with great economic might. We have lot of lessons to learn from this nation.

    I wish Mr.Lobo a happy journey. Hope many people from Mangalorean origin will interact with Lobo to bring value to Mangalore. There is a urgent need for a platform n mechanism to be designed for utilizing resources n talents of people working in Gulf for the weel-being of Mangalore.

    Engage with global people and Mr.Lobo is having a clear-cut vision. We are really proud of Mr.Lobo who is engaged in his work sincerely. Good luck.
