Kasargod: 62-year-old 'sorcerer' arrested for sexually harassing woman

Kasargod, Sep 9: Kasargod police have arrested a 62-year-old man on charges of sexually harassing a woman in the name of sorcery.

The arrested is identified as Avikkare resident Moidin alias Mohammed.

Police investigation has revealed that he has married five times. He is said to be a Payyannur resident by origin and living in Kanhangad for the last ten years.

He has been arrested on a complaint lodged by the wife of a Madrasa teacher. Moidin allegedly sexually harassed the 30-year old woman, saying that he will solve the marital problem between her and her husband.

Both the woman and her husband had come to him together. But Moidin reportedly made the husband wait outside, took her to his room, gave a medicine to make her lose consciousness and sexually assaulted her.

The incident had occurred on April 10, 2013. An investigation has revealed that several women used to come to him for treatment. Though there were complaints against him, nobody had taken them seriously and none had lodged complaints against him.

An investigation is also being held into his five marriages.
