Kundapur, Sep 9:
It is said that Gautam Buddha meditated in the historic Sri Vinayaka terrain, one of the seven centers created by Parashuram. History says that the place is named Kumbashi as Bheemasena had killed a monster called Kumbhasura, who was troubling people in the forest here.

Vadiraja Yathi has described the Kumbhashi center as the king of centers. The caves at the top of the center symbolize the face of the king.

The Vinayaka temple distributes free food to thousands of devotees every day. A large hall is reserved for this purpose. The structure is built spending several crores of rupees. Rest houses for visiting devotees and celebration halls have made the place famous.

The place of Anegudde gets filled by people during Chowthi, Sankastahara Chaturthi and Sankranthi. People come in vehicles here and go back after worship. As there are historical episodes of miracles of Ganapathi, the Ganapathi here is named as 'talking Ganapathi'.

On the day of Shudha Chaturthi the celebrations are scheduled in a special manner here. Special programmes of Sahasra Nagareekera Ganayaga and several cultural programmes are scheduled here.

Actress Tara, minister Vinay Kumar Sorake seek blessings

The celebration at the temple was at the peak with the arrival of actress Tara who offered special worship.

Speaking to media persons, she said that she may not have been able to come to the temple due to pressure of film shooting. However the ‘Ulidavaru Kandanthe’ film directed by Rakshit Shetty is being shot at Udupi for the last two weeks. So proximity enabled her to come and worship Ganesha, that made her glad, she said.

When reporters her to comment on the delay in buildng of monument in memory of Vishnuvardhan despite sanction of land by the government, she said that both BJP and Congress have supported the move and there was no politics in it. She said that she is not aware of any individual objection in it.

Urban development minister and district incharge Vinay Kumar Sorake also visited the temple and sought blessings.
