Bantwal: Bus conductor thrashed for indecent behavior with lady passenger

Mounesh Vishwakarma
Daijiworld Media Network – Bantwal (EP)

Bantwal, Sep 13: A day after a shopkeeper was beaten up for reportedly misbehaving with a girl employee, it was the turn of a bus conductor to receive similar treatment for a similar reason.

The bus conductor got beaten up by the passengers for his alleged inappropriate behavior with a lady passenger at Melkar junction here on Thursday September 12.

Mohammed, a conductor of Mangalore to BC Road bus, was the one who was beaten up. The woman from Kukkaje slapped the conductor when he acted indecently with her.  Her husband who was sitting behind in the bus, made the conductor get down in the next stop.  Other passengers and passersby also assaulted the conductor.

Police arrived at the spot and took Mohammed to a hospital for treatment after taking him into custody.

The conductor is said to have troubled the woman by going to an Anganwadi where she is employed, driving her to attempt suicide a few days ago, said the husband of the woman to the reporters.

It is said that the conductor has misbehaved with other women passengers also in the past.

Job well done. Next time use this tactic on bus drivers who blow high pitch horns which irritates the common person plus the bus travelers who sit close to driver. How people can tolerate this nuisance. I kindly request Mr. Gopalkrishna Bhat Sub Inspector to carry on more checks on buses through Nanthoor Circle. I am thanking you on behalf of public for the brave and courageous raid you did on buses near MCC.So please do it again soon near Nanthoor. God Bless You Sir. In modern districts like DK & Udupi the local buses should stop and a better co-operative bus like BEST in Mumbai should start operating in these two districts. The KSRTC also should introduce multi-city AC buses and Inter-city mini Ac buses. The car owners inside the city limit should fill their vehicle with other commuters as car-pooling and go off the road once every 10 days from Car Regn Nos. ending ONE to ZERO.
Please remember, where there is a will there is a way.

I hope the administration will take the clue of the intolerence of general public and take necessary steps to bring public confidence on the system and the constitution. Let the law rule the land and not the lawlessness. At the present circumstance the public treatment meted on the bus conductor may be right but, it is highly bad for the countries future. General public taking law into hand will ruin the countries future. What if a innocent is beated by group of people and call him a robber or a molestor. I wish and really really pray that, the system is placed in the country and we all are taught the rule of law. Short cuts are good temporarily but for long run it is dangeroous.

You may not have come across any incident in your life. Thank God for this. My Brother assaulted my husband so badly,he was wounded and in Hospital. The SI from Police released his on bail. Money is what Police want to twist the case. They do not realise the curse of the public on them. Therefore, people who have bitter experience like me will take law in their hands. Frustrated ...

I am happy to note that public finally know how to deal with Muhammad who had habit of torturing women. Police are incapable of doing justice to victims and same is proved again n again. Before handing such rogues to police, people should give a fitting treatment to Muhammad type people who have pervert mind-set to harm women. Thanks a lot to victims husband n co-passengers for showing commonsense. Let the law take its own course, but mohammad should learn a lesson when he commits crime on spot.

Nirbhaya justice took 9months to come out.Girl was suffering on the road side people have not helped them for 4hours and girl died later.Immediate action by the passengers did taught a lesson to this conductor and there won't be any case registration only conductor's name and fame got registered in the society and among his family n friends so next time onwards people will be aware of this man.
If something similar would have happened to you'r wife or daughter or to your mother ot to your sister you wil wait and watch to go to police and if any untoward happened you will repent whole of your life.

This is absolutely ridicules. Mob Justice is not justice at all.Thrashing someone, with or without evidence is not a character of a civilized society. Ofcourse, Mangalore Bus Conductors do behave arrogantly with women, children and old people, they use abusive slangs, i myself have been a victim. The best way to go is to talk to him head to head and complaining to RTO. Why is RTO existing? Beating someone up is sign of intolerant and failed society. And Mangalore is a failed society.

I do agree that beating is not a solution, unfortunatly public has its own limit of tolerance. These rogues are tied up with RTO and politicians. They are the most important votes banks along with auto drivers. They have a strong association but not us, the passengers. Our system has failed in providing decent public transport system as these bus and auto operators are interested in looting and exploiting general public. either they should change themselves or prepared to get "shock" treatment!!

Its a good sign that public rise up to the occasion to punish the culprits. This is the only way to deal with the crimes happening in public places. Normally the police do not take such incidents seriously and let these people out with a warning without any punishment. Only the public can teach such people a lesson for their life time!

Despite of being a South Canarian, i would like to comment that we think too much of our self. We think that we are too intelligent and smart when compared to rest of the country. This is evident especially when auto drivers, bus conductors talk rudely especially with those from North Karnataka. Although these bus conductors are school -outs, they think they have very high IQ and tease and abuse 'Bijapur' laborers, who are here for their survival.
All these tugs (drivers, conductors, auto fellows) should be given crash course on how to behave and survive with passengers or public. Though thrashing is not a solution, there is no other alternative for these rough, brainless creatures!!

If cops were to get involved, money would have changed hands and the conductor would have gone Scot free emboldened to continue his pet pastime.

But Police is not arresting those people who has thrashed this conductor for his misbehavior. I am not supporting the conductor here, he should be punished. Question: Why Police is always biased in india, especially in mangalore.

    There you Go!
This is the right approach-Democracy-Law is for the civilized and not for animals.
Animals need this same tretament- and this is what will happen since people have lost trust and confidence and patience.
From now onwords be it any one from top to bottom -WE THE PEOPLE will teach these culprits a good lesson that they will never forget for their life and a detrrent for the others whose thought process will be in question.
This was bound to happen -sooner or later and people of india had patience all this while - but from now on ..this is the right action plan and necessary.
    Jai-hind.

I don't encourage violence but now even I have lost my patience.strict prompt action has to be taken against these rogues. We depended on government for enough cases and sadly since no prompt actions have been taken,we stand here today. We shouldn't feel feared to go around our own mother town, rather they should fear of even having the thought of insulting our mothers and sisters. Thank you from the depth of my heart to all those people who helped that couple.may god bless you all.

In Shirva, the so called assistants (all youngsters) used to take advantage of the rush hour. Inside the bus, they would unnecessarily move from one end to the other brushing the young girls. This was protested and was stopped by the public. Now they are not allowed to enter inside the buses. If the good people join together a lot of good work can be done and all evil behaviour can be eliminated. I am sure the other conductors would behave themselves.

A common strategy by bus conductor's is to stand at the door way where ladies get down, where he gets a chance brush them. There should be a strict instruction that conductor should get down while passengers are alighting.
